Iliman Ndiaye
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
One thing I noticed yesterday is that even when he's not having a particularly good game he doesn't disappear or shy away from trying things.
Often with this type of player they're either great or completely anonymous, but even when he lost it and things didn't come off you just knew that next time he got it he'd run at the defender again.
Then when he went over to the right towards the end he immediately set about running at Lewis Hall and causing him problems.
I was worried he'd be a frustrating player but actually doesn't seem that way at all. Might not always be effective but he'll keep trying and never let the full back have an easy time.

Does feel like we’ve got a Pienaar regen with him on that left side. Wonder what he’d be like in his best position!

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Am I remembering pienaar wrong?? Thought he was much better at linking play but nowhere near as good a dribbler as Ndiaye
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Both massively silky players who draw fouls and get out of tight areas with ease. Ndiaye is great at linking up as well, we just don't have anyone capable of doing it with him. There was a moment against Newcastle where he attempted a 1-2 with Harrison with a backheel but obviously the latter was nowhere near (mentally or physically).
Pienaar was a great dribbler, just didn't have the pace (or tbf ability to hit a shot with any power) to be an elite player.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Would much prefer him in the 10.
McNeil has scored some nice goals but the ball doesn't stick with him there enough. Get Ndiaye there, turning and running at CBs.
McNeil can play left or right but I'm not a huge fan of him in the 10.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
His job for dyche is to run the ball up the pitch I'm afraid.
Great player but he's going to end the season on about 2 goals because he's doing donkey work.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
That's one of his jobs, when we get up the pitch or break effectively he's asked to create chances or take them. Unfortunately only ashely young has been able to find him with a decent pass and we've fluffed most of the good chances he's created.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
He needs fullbacks and we have no one in our squad on the left or the right that can deliver consistently good attacking performances. Lucas Digne was no Leighton Baines, but Digne was certainly the last player that could be that kind of complete full back that we love to see bombing down the flanks to the byline to put in a cross.
You have to have overlapping and underlapping off ball runs from deeper areas, otherwise your team will never function properly at the highest level in an attacking sense.
These off ball runs are what moves defenders out of position. They make defenders make decisions on whether to follow the runner or go to the man with the ball. They overload areas, and give space to players like Ndiaye to create magic.
Without good quality full backs, you will never get the best out of Ndiaye.
