Re: David Moyes
It is ok to look at the bigger picture, close points to top 4 etc but i think focusing on the last two games for example, regardless of the players we have out. The decisions have been pathetic. Cowardly and weak. Same old with him unfortunately. Yeah we are close to top 6....yeah its incredible to not be worried about relegation. However, JOB is not a fucking RB. McNeil is disgracing himself every minute he is on the pitch, Mykolenko is absolutely shite.
Give young players some minutes, whats the point playing McNeil for example? We know he isnt going to improve. Its like having 10 men. People may say what choice do we have..... but we DO have choices. Not absolute known quality perhaps but we do have options, id be happy losing games if we are trying Aznou out there, Patterson perhaps, Dibbling, one of the attacking kids etc looking at bedding in some future options whilst we wait for players to come back.

Will depend how we do from here really.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 8:13 am I agree with everything you just said. But I have a question for you.
Do you want him to be offered a new contract at the end of this season?
If we massively drop off and finish 15th, well adrift of things, then no, he won't have done enough.
If we finish in the 8th-12th area as we're on course to do, then yeah.
I just think at the moment there's about 10 fanbases in the league who one week think they can get European football because they've won and they've moved up a few places, and the following week they lose, go back into the bottom half and want the manager changing and we're very much part of that group.
Massively disappointed with the last 2 results as everyone is, but if we're honest our squad is still a bottom half squad even with all the players fit and available. We'll be better when we get players back. We do need to improve at home though. That's massively frustrating.

You see again I agree with everything you said - I just think that Moyes is showing too much inflexibility and adaptability to be comfortable going forward with him - even if he gets us 8th. You might argue he’s earned it at that point, but I would argue he’s also shown his limitations.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 8:21 am Will depend how we do from here really.

I love all the good stuff, I understand the squad complications, but the flaws tell me he’s not the man for the next level.

Re: David Moyes
Yeah that's fair enough. I honestly think it would be crazy not to renew if we finish 8th, when you consider where we were when he took over. But I doubt we'll finish 8th. I think roughly where we are now might be where we finish.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 8:26 am You see again I agree with everything you said - I just think that Moyes is showing too much inflexibility and adaptability to be comfortable going forward with him - even if he gets us 8th. The reason I keep mentioning the rest of the league is that I think it's incredibly relevant. Almost every fanbase from Liverpool in 4th to Bournemouth in 15th thinks their team has been mostly crap all season long. Genuinely. And they clearly aren't all right. It's just a very competitive season, and we're firmly in that arm wrestle for places.
But yeah, respect that you feel differently. As we've said it's incredibly fine margins. If Keane heads us 2-0 up in the first half when he hits the post, we're sat here in 9th, the Brentford game is a blip and we're 3 points behind Champs League.

Re: David Moyes
As frustrating as he is sometimes he is a known quantity that will generally get results over the course of the season depending on the players he has at his disposal.
Do we really want or need some hipster manager at the moment?
I would love to see him with a functioning squad that he can call on before I write him off.
Lest we forget before he came in last year we were fucked, we have not moved on that much as a squad from those dark days only 12 months ago.

Re: David Moyes
I'm still happy with him. He is exactly what we needed and exactly what we still need right now. Frustrations and all.

Re: David Moyes
Doing a good job overall but the stubbornness that was evident in his first spell is there to see again doesn’t trust young players won’t change tactics even when it’s obviously not working and always sides on the conservative
Re: David Moyes
59 points in a calendar year... I get the frustrations but given the squad he's had to work with I think he's earned a longer stay.
Probably better to judge him once he has a functional team, which for me would be at the end of next season not this one.

Re: David Moyes
The club need to start succeasion planning this summer in identifying his replacement. A full season to carefully plan ahead beyond Moyes, perhaps that might well be Coleman.

Re: David Moyes
Talk about the reds all day long I don't mind, but you can't tell me any of us thought we were winning that at 1-1.
The football he is serving up is fucking dire.
I don't want him gone because we'd just replace him with another pragmatist to do the same thing with the same shite players, but he's not building anything for the future. He's not putting a style of play in. He's muddling through with what he's got.
I dunno. Questioning what I'm even doing. I don't go the game any more, my dad doesn't watch it any more, my brother doesn't, my mates go but we don't go together, I've got to fight to carve time to watch it when I could be doing something else. What am I getting out of this honestly

Re: David Moyes
Not sure what right we had to win the match last night. The players we had on the pitch were no better than the players Wolves put on the pitch.
Re: David Moyes
I think we’ve been good this season and have just had injuries and lost our best players at the worst possible time.
Is very reactionary on here at the moment and I imagine it’s a lot worse on social media.
We’re 12th and two points off europe. It’s where we should probably be.
This time last year we were 17th, two points off the drop.
Massive improvements have been made. 2025 was a great year for the club and there’s a lot to build on this year.

Re: David Moyes
He's steadied the ship, so fine with that.
Refuses to be bold and keeps going back to JOB at right back and McNeil in midfield. No idea what he expects to see that he doesn't know already.
If he tried Patterson and Dibling again, or even Rohl or Aznou, and they bombed we could stomach it as we need to look to the future. But Keane and McNeil aren't that so it makes no sense.
Safety first will get you a steady ship at best and slowly going backwards at worst. The new owndership will likely have different expectations.

Re: David Moyes
All I would say to people is that when you are feeling disappointed with Moyes or the football we are playing, just remember the days of Dycheball.
I have watched Forest play under him a few times (including our games) and it is woeful. And they actually have some decent players with no real excuse.
We have settled the ship under Moyes. He isn’t perfect but is a massive improvement on the last few seasons.

Re: David Moyes
Pickford - elite
JOB - probably worst RB in the league
Tarks - average CB having a stinker of a season
Keane - violent thug (just kidding - below average CB having a good season)
Mykolenko - mid table championship LB
Garner - average premier league CM
Tim - raw with some really strong points and some big weaknesses
Armstrong - kid with potential
Grealish - brilliant technician but not what we need
Barry - raw, largely anonymous and learning on the job
McNeil - finished at this level
Subs:
Beto - never had been and never will be a premier league player
Rohl - not ready, not sure he's actually any good anyway
Patterson - equal worst RB in the league
Aznou - a million miles of ready, might never be
Dibling - huge potential but not able to put in any sort of physical battle and gets totally bullied
That's the squad we had last night... Did Moyes use it to it's full potential? Hard to say, probably not but not confident any changes make a difference.
Probably not a surprise we're struggling without KDH, Ndaiye, Gana and that's not including Branthwaite who would make a massive difference.
It is what it is, sometimes you're going to struggle when you have a paper thin squad and most of your best players are out, and any changes you could make don't move the needle an inch.
