Everton are reportedly lining up a move for Lutsharel Geertruida this summer, with RB Leipzig prepared to sell the Dutch defender for around £20 million.

The 25-year-old impressed during his loan spell at Sunderland and is said to be keen on remaining in the Premier League. Everton scouts have reportedly monitored him extensively throughout the season, with David Moyes eager to strengthen the right-back position ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Geertruida's versatility, defensive quality, and strong passing ability make him an attractive option as Everton look to bring in a natural right-back rather than continuing to rely on Jake O'Brien in the role.

Had a little nosey around the Sunderland forum earlier and they seem to rate him highly, especially the last few games of the season.

I know my Sunderland supporting mate was a bit unenthusiastic about him, but maybe just took a while to settle.

They want him to stay but apparently his wages might be an issue as he'd be one of their highest earners and they already have 2 other players who can play RB.

Sounds like we could probably offer him a regular starting spot and wages Sunderland probably wouldn't match.
