wrexham are evolution by the dollar - its s free country and good luck to em
if we hadnt had the take over from TFG - from the USA .....where would we be now?
they rescued us financially and sorted our debt out and now we have a stable base
and looks like they will be pumping sensible money into everton to make us a better team
enjoy

Also, a week into our new relationship 14 years ago, my now wife told me how amazing Ryan fucking Reynolds looked in The Proposal. To this day, I'm not sure what to do with that information, but it doesn't exactly fill me with joy knowing she works for an American-owned company in Wrexham.
It was too much for my fragile self-confidence then and I certainly don't need to be seeing his fucking face every week if/when we ever play in the same league as them.

Re: Wrexham
They’ve completely overshadowed an almost identical trajectory from Stockport County.
I know Stockport still has to win a playoff to get promoted to the Championship but they’ve more or less matched Wrexham promotion for promotion and only finished 5 points off them this season without any of the hype from famous ownership.

Re: Wrexham
Ownership of all sports clubs/franchises/etc. is inherently weird but the influx of American money into the football pyramid is a bit much even by those standards.
The fact that local communities don’t own controlling stakes of the clubs they support is completely fucked. That’s for all sport, not just football.

Re: Wrexham
One thing I will concede is that even though they've had a huge influx of money from the current ownership, they've still been able to overall spend it properly on a number of the right players to help them win 3 consecutive promotions, in contrast to us where Moshiri spent around £750m to take us from 11th to the brink of relegation from the Premier League.

Re: Wrexham
I don't think it's the money or the netflix docs or any of that that annoys me. Its the constant shite surrounding them about fairytale and miracle.
It just isn't, at all.
It's a club with a hell of a lot more money than everyone else around them, like city, who are (obviously) winning more than everyone else....!

A fairytale usually involves either a single person or a very small subsection of society benefitting from something completely unexpected and out of the ordinary.
Just because it's not our fairytale doesn't mean it isn't one to others.
How magical do you think Jack's neighbours found it when a big fuck off beanstalk started growing next door blocking the light to their garden, and then Jack and his mum[Tracy, who used to sell the Avon] started splashing the cash around from the sale of their 'golden eggs'?

Re: Wrexham
Again, what you do not see (or want to see) is that it's fine to say all this shite about fairytales, but its pissing people off because the way its spoken about is without nuance. No mention of the fact they could outspend the whole league put together etc
Im sure its fucking wonderful for the people of Wrexham yes, i am sure they feel it is a miracle etc and thats fine/great for them.
Of course I am speaking about it from a non Wrexham fan so i have no emotion in it, but all this is annoying because there is never any chatter about how if they didnt win the league then something has fucked up.
Im not bothered either way, I just dont get why it isnt spoken about more, the detriment to the game etc.

Re: Wrexham
I think media coverage does impact perceptions quite a lot. Salford was big news because the Class of 92 were involved, and to be fair, every other club's fans at the level, hated them.. Fleetwood did basically the same using some very dodgy money (Andy Pilley now serving a lengthy sentence) but other than selling Vardy they got virtually none of the same profile so, nationally, the dislike never reached the same levels.
Wrexham's success has been built on massively outspending rivals but the story hasn't really been covered that this year, they didn't win the league because American investors poured a colossal amount more into Birmingham, dwarfing Wrexham's budget.
To sign a striker from a PL club for £15m (add ons up to £20m) is an extraordinary outlay for a league one club. To have bought up the old racing track with plans for a 60k+ stadium is also outlandish but without a Netflix documentary, it hasn't reached Wrexham levels.
Bournemouth's remarkable ascent from league one lower midtable fodder coincided with a period of very wealthy Russian ownership but again, minus the Salford/Wrexham levels of publicity didn't gain the same levels of antagonism from other supporters as they went through those levels.
The way football clubs are funded in this country is stupid. I'd prefer salary caps, fan ownership and regulated ticket prices and neither Salford, nor Wrexham was/is a fairytale but they've just been savvy and able to exploit the publicity in a way the Fleetwood/Birmingham/Bournemouth non fairytales weren't because their owners didn't have a huge public profile prior to their club ownership.
If I was a fan of any of the clubs involved, I'd just be lapping up the promotions.

In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

So basically what the majority are saying that if the Friedkins bankrolled Everton to win the champions league you’d all hate it…..
Ye right…..
