Because he had a very good game
Michael Keane
Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
The set up helped him massively, how many times have we bemoaned this season that he's been caught in no man's land having to step up when the opposition attacked because our midfield was absent.
We sat with Mangala and Doucoure in front and didn't allow them any space inbetween attack and defence meaning all he had to do was defend where he's comfortable and can't be done for pace.
Not taking away from his performance, he played really well... But I felt it's the first game this season we've actually protected him.
The trade off is that we then have the midfield deep and covering without providing much support and ultimately our play becomes very direct and attritional.

The setup definitely helped him but he played well might have been a different story if isak or Wilson were there but he was solid it’s tark that’s worrying me now he is so rash and needs to stop the hard man act

When he has a couple of decent games, it just moves us one game closer statistically to the next time he costs us a game.

Always been a very good defender when on form, his form has always been the issue. Getting reincarnated as a striker I reckon

Play him up front. Moyes did with Steve Watson. I'm sure Keane has more goals than our star striker.

Re: Michael '3 goals' Keane
He was great today even without scoring an unbelievable goal. Makes you wonder how Dyche goes if Branthwaite is fit for the next one.
Players should be picked on how they've performed and Keane couldn't have done any more than he did today to make an argument for starting the next match.

Tarkowski might get a break if he's got some lingering injuries. He was good today but has been poor this season.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:38 pm He was great today even without scoring an unbelievable goal. Makes you wonder how Dyche goes if Branthwaite is fit for the next one.

If Keane is playing well we can put Branthwaite beside him and let Tarks recover a bit.
