I don't think it was her comments that people took issue with it was that she named Ian Wright while making the comments. If you're going to use someone as an example to make a point it's probably best not to go in on someone who's done a huge amount for the women's game and helped raise it's profile. She's since apologised to him for bringing him into it.

Especially when you consider that Ian Wright doesn't need to be involved in women's football.
Like if it was Steve Sidwell trying to get involved in broadcasting and working his way into it through women's football then valid point. Ian Wright being involved in women's football doesn't benefit his media career at all really. It just allows him to be a voice that brings women's football more into the mainstream.

Can see where she's coming from too, she didn't bring up Ian Wright, she just answered a direct question relating to him, but the problem is that he gets brought up as being a spokesmen for women's football all the time, when there are more women out there saying and doing more about promoting the game (which he admits himself), yet they're seldom listened to, and its true he does get alot of air time and kudos.
Then the BBC title an article that she apologises (but for something someone else said, ie, the presenter who raised his name, looking for a bit of a Gotcha moment) And of course there was alot of context in the womens hour interview that didnt carry through to these headlines. She can't win.
I'm probably being a bit old fashioned here but I hate the way everything has to be played out over social media these days, just pick up the phone have good old argument about it and move on instead of plastering it all over Instagram.

The trouble is that once it's been in the press, you only really have two options: either post your stuff on social media or reply to the same five questions thirty times for every fucking reporter, hoping that they're going to convey your words accurately but deep down knowing they won't.
She's grating, and I think she's a poor pundit, but in this scenario I'm not sure she's done much wrong. She's speaking of Wright in a respectful manner whilst pointing out that he needs awareness of his position, which she actually acknowledges he has.

I think she's actually quite eloquent, and has more credibility than 95% of the pundits and commentators in the game, not that we see alot of her here. Some/most of the former male player commentators are absolutely stealing a living. They are utterly terrible at their jobs.
