If we want a totally different style why would people want Thomas Frank? I don't exactly watch many Brentford matches so can't say for sure but they don't exactly strike me as a progressive passing team.

According to the PL stats, we've had more than 40% of the ball in 1 of our 5 home matches this season (guessing that's 1/6 including Southampton) with the 1 being 46% against Bournemouth.

Brentford aren't a possession based side but at least they do edge possession in several home matches with 65% over Ipswich this weekend (doubt we'll get over 55 in any game this season) and they do go into matches with a positive approach which is probably reflected by all the early goals they've scored this season. They also play with an actual press high up the pitch and seem to free up their forwards really well (and the likes of Wissa and Keane-Potter aren't great players).

I think Frank has the personality to cope with managing a club like ours and I think like he'd bring a more natural progression to Dyche-ball whereas someone like Potter might (not guaranteed) struggle to get the likes of Doucoure playing possession-based football.

Because there is a legitimate fear that our squad won't be able to play that way as effectively as they play dyche ball.

Why though? It’s not like they’re playing dycheball effectively. Maybe that’s what is holding them back?

We have good footballers who can pass the ball.

The idea that what we’re seeing now is all they’re capable of is ridiculous to me.

I don’t see why someone like potter suddenly becomes a massive risk when he has a good record in the premier league.

Have been massively unimpressed with Bournemouth both times they've been here under Iraola, in spite of the silly goings on at the end this season.

How many points would we have got last season if we were playing if effectively?? We got 48 playing it ineffectively. 60?? 70??

Did we sign some new players today?

If we’d rather do it the hard, expensive way, we do also have the option to back up a whole truckload of money for Inzaghi or Gasperini.

Would be a big adaptation for either one of them and we’d have our work cut out to create enough centre back and wing back depth for their preferred systems. Plus, they could probably both bag bigger PL jobs if they’re interested in managing in England.

I still think Potter sits in the perfect middle ground of being a relatively easy deal to conclude (unattached) and having the requisite skills to do a good job.

Plenty of good options out there, it’s all a matter of picking a direction and committing to it rather than just chasing the next shiny thing with a fistful of money.

I live down this way and my son is a Bournemouth fan. I go to see them a fair bit and we would love to play the way they do.

We have a decent amount of good enough footballers to play better stuff that what we’ve seen this season.

It doesn’t have to be anything drastic.

Just trying to control games using the ball instead of launching it long everytime then retreating to the halfway line when we lose it which is what we’ve seen most of this season.

You can play direct whilst still having an element of control in the game.

I know we have a midfield there than can use the ball well, they’re just not asked to do it and haven’t been for about four years.

Hate this fear some of our fans have that if we try and pass the ball we will be instantly relegated. It is possible to strive for better! It is also possible to attempt to play better and get worse results, I do realise this is true also.

Probably a bit of PRMSD.

He didn’t oversee our worst seasons by any means (considering we’ve legitimately almost been relegated a couple of times) but he did oversee our most severe drop in standards after the relative stability of Moyes.

Gave us some of the best, most exciting results we’ve ever seen in the past twenty years and some of the most embarrassing. Gave us false hope of being able to mix it up with the top sides after one brilliant season.

We were consistently one of the toughest sides in the league under Moyes and used to frequently rescue results from difficult positions. We’ve felt extremely fragile, often shooting ourselves in the foot, ever since Roberto took over.

It’s not fair to malign a whole approach to football based on a single manager but I do understand why the connection between possession football and being weak has been drawn by a lot of Evertonians.

I'd like us to move away from appointing a manager from another Premier league club like we did with Martinez, Koeman, Silva etc. Been done to death and it's short sighted.

How about we look to bring in a manager from outside the Premier league who will actually be a success with us and other bigger clubs look to target him further down the line as there manager. My suggestion would be someone like Toppmoller at Frankfurt or Werner at Werder Bremen.
