Yeah I'm leaning towards this now. Looks like Moyes sees LB as a crucial attacking position in this system, and although Myko has improved a lot lately, do you really want him as one of your main creative players?

Decent little read this, another playing making clear reference to preferring the way we're playing now under Moyes.

I also liked the fact that he says manager is already starting to work on things for next season, he won’t try to do it all in the preseason.

Need a player with more quality at LB in this Moyes system. Myko has definitely improved but I think we'll be in for a left back this summer.

Just not good enough in the final third. So many times promising attacks just died out on the left wing. We aren’t even playing the ball in front of him because the default is to turn back or inside.

Yeah he's pretty crap. Had hoped he might show some development, but it hasn't happened. He's just as clumsy and ineffective going forward as when we signed him.

Where does he fit with our previous left backs?

Hinchcliffe
Naysmith
Pistone
Unsworth
Valente
Baines
Digne

Of all of them I reckon there's only Pistone that I dont pick ahead of him.

I recall Naysmith being arse too.

He wasn't very good, but he could get up and down and get a decent ball in, so I think he'd still be better in this team than Mykolenko.

I don't think I've ever seen a player look so awkward when he has to deal with anything other than a straightforward pass in to his feet. If we can upgrade then I'm all for it, despite him being a pretty solid defensive LB.

Just far too much to do to even be considering it in my book.

If we left the window and left back was our biggest weak-spot, I'd be fucking thrilled.

We still need backup in that area though and I'm not sure there's any point buying a backup for a player who in another season will be backup.

Either need a loan signing there or a first choice... Or at the very least a promising younger player who we can phase in gradually.

One thing we can't do is just ignore that position completely this summer.

Yeah I shared this opinion until a few weeks ago. I'm convinced the way Moyes seta us up, having a quality left back is key.

Are we still saying he’s a liability and can’t cross a ball? Nowhere near perfect but, as expected, he’s improving under Moyes especially in the final third. Seen some decent stuff at Goodison and those crosses yesterday were superb. I’d rather we concentrated on other areas of the pitch in this window. Mykolenko is a problem for next summer.

I like him. He's not great offensively but he's a really good defender. I don't think he needs replacing.
