Re: Tyler Dibling
At which point we'll owe Southampton 25% on top. It's a ridiculously bad deal for us.

They’re in the driving seat though. Cost of getting back in a prem is massive but the big thing is if they don’t go straight back this year it could be 2 or more years in the championship. Sure they feel like if he stays they go straight back up

Re: Tyler Dibling
We can't pay 50m for a championship player because Southampton think he might get them promoted. They are only in the driving seat if someone is daft enoughOldEnglandToffee wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 7:48 pm They’re in the driving seat though. Re: Tyler Dibling
This one sounds like a small bit of compromise will get it done apparently the player wants to come and usually they get their way
Re: Tyler Dibling
8 or a 10 is interesting. Must be a few years away from that. Glowing reference though.

Re: Tyler Dibling
But if that’s there price then we pay it or walk away. if he takes Southampton up or we buy him then he’s a premier league player as he was last season. standard price for a quality attacker seems to be 60 million plus atm. So with a player his age with so much hype he’s gonna be expensive777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 8:00 pm We can't pay 50m for a championship player because Southampton think he might get them promoted. Re: Tyler Dibling
I think lots of clubs would be after him around the 45 mill mark. Most clubs lose that done the back of the sofa these days. It will be the % of next sale that will be putting clubs off imo. It’s outlandish (if correct) and they need to get a grip really or he will end up leaving cheaper in 12-18 months or even for free. Even with him they might not get promoted because they’re absolutely shite.
Re: Tyler Dibling
Imagine in 24 months' time when he is playing for Leeds doing nothing and we'll be saying .. almost paid 45 million for him.
Seriously what has he done.. if we're talking great teenage sensations... we sold Wayne when he'd basically kept us up at 17 with all his last minute goals. Switch off football focus... press refresh on ceefax ten minutes later Rooney 93 minute equaliser/winner. always worked a charm that year.
So I have a pretty high yardstick for what I expect from my teenage sensations. Southampton went down and in 34 games he had ..2 goals.and an assist? 45 million plus 25% sell on... nah enjoy the championahip.

Re: Tyler Dibling
In fairness, we sold Antony Gordon for £45M when he hadn't done an awful lot for us. That was what, 2 years ago?
Young English players always come with a premium.
You're paying for potential and what they might become.
I think their valuation of him is fair but we don't want that 25% sell on tagging on.
It will be done at a compromise I reckon and I'd like to think we won't get shafted.

He got 2 goals and no assists last season. He did very little to suggest he should be a premier league player at this moment in time.OldEnglandToffee wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 9:45 pm But if that’s there price then we pay it or walk away. if he takes Southampton up or we buy him then he’s a premier league player as he was last season. standard price for a quality attacker seems to be 60 million plus atm. Has anyone from the championship ever gone for such a price? Has anyone with such poor numbers. It seems outlandish.
Re: Tyler Dibling
Gordon is a good comparison in the sense that there’s no comparison, he had done miles more than dibling has to date (appearances, more goals, many more assists), and at the price they want, which shows it’s a mental priceCozzie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 3:28 am In fairness, we sold Antony Gordon for £45M when he hadn't done an awful lot for us. Re: Tyler Dibling
If we buy for 45m and sell for 95m, another 10m as part of a 25% clause is a reasonable chunk of cash. But then again our current offer compared with opening offer is circa +20m...
Not sure going above 50m as total potential outlay is wise, without proven runs on the board.
He's obviously a player though and would be a statement signing for other young talent which would change our image,... whether he fits is another thing.

Re: Tyler Dibling
For that sort of outlay whether he fits is irrelevant because you’d want to be building the team around him to let him flourish in his preferred role and putting the best players to help and compliment him around him. £45M is all-in money.Cods wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 4:47 am If we buy for 45m and sell for 95m, another 10m as part of a 25% clause is a reasonable chunk of cash. Sorry, more meant if he 'clicks' with us. That is, style we play etc.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 4:50 am For that sort of outlay whether he fits is irrelevant because you’d want to be building the team around him to let him flourish in his preferred role and putting the best players to help and compliment him around him. £45M is all-in money.
Along with if potential becomes reality
