Not a great start, just hope it's part of a bigger plan this summer to bring in some talent in other positions.

Experienced guy, probably good for the dressing room and the younger lads to learn from. Decent cover for occasional starts and a nice option to bring on to see a game out. Actually played well this season when asked as well.
Not doing back flips over it - but yeh it’s fair enough.
Will make all the more sense if Coleman is off too…

That'll be Coleman going into a coaching role then you'd think.

No problem with this at all, keeping him around as someone to be used sparingly but who can cover multiple roles is ideal when we've got so many players going in and out. It would be a problem if he ends up starting regularly, but his role under Moyes has been sub who can come on to see out the last 10 minutes and that'll be fine next season too I would imagine.

Probably also not a bad PR thing if he ends up still playing for us as a 40 year old, there'll be some interest in an outfield PL player doing that.

Yeah, as long as he's not starting games outside of an emergency then i trust the contract he is on is the right one financially.

Put some really good performances in after riding out the crowd hating him (through no fault of his own) in the early days

He was only decent because of how much Dyche protected him much to the disadvantage of the rest of the team. As soon as Moyes played him there and didn't set up to mask Young's deficiencies he looked all at sea.

He's crap, and when he plays you have to take away from other areas to protect him which is problematic.

I get he can cover a few positions, and if he's only used in an absolute emergency I can sort of understand retaining him, but god I hope we don't have to use him.

Am curious to know how Dyche protected him, what exactly did he do to the set up that disadvantaged the rest of the team?

What games did he look all at sea in? He's played less but I don't recall him ever coming on and being bad.

I think that’s aimed more at his first season, when he was a liability, to be fair he did have a good season this season.

Oh mate I went in to this so much at the time, midfield very deep, RW playing as virtually a wing back. We couldn't commit players forward as if we got broke on you'd have Young not able to get back leaving Tarks horribly exposed, so we'd have midfielders sitting deep when attacking to cover and Young also never crossed the half way line... Believe me it was a massive massive problem.

That’s all because we were managed by Sean dyche.

Yes and no... His reliance on Young caused a lot of his own problems but this wasn't the only one, it was however a very big one.
