Re: Dyche
And to say we have a competitive squad is a wild take
There's so much mitigation with thelwells signings but make an argument for them being a success even with that mitigation. He's probably made 4 good 1s. Tarks, Tim, Ndiaye and onana. That's taking in how difficult his job is
Did we appoint lampard and dyche under him too?

Re: Dyche
For what our aim is (stay in the premier league) it is.
It was the 12th best team in the league last season, just a few points off Brighton.
What changed so drastically in the squad to regress so much.
And yes, we hired dyche and Lampard under him. Farhad Moshiri appointed them.

Think it's a bit of a clever trick to credit thelwell with dyche overperforming last season and use that over performing to claim we are a competitive squad.
What changed. Well for a start Brighton spent over 100m and we sold 1 of only 2 players with any real value
To be fair if our aim is to stay in the league then we are competitive on the pitch too
I'll be extremely disappointed if thelwell is still here next season. Think the previous 2 seasons are more inspite of his signings rather than because of them
Re: Dyche
Nobody is ignoring the limitations he's had to work under, it's been literally stated in any posts about his performance.
It's a difficult job BUT he's wasted what little money we did have... £25m for Beto... TWENTY FIVE MILLION! Regardless of whether we paid initially or not that's a horrendous waste of a lot of money. Just get someone on loan instead and not further hamper our spending down the line.
Where's the pace? We might be limited with who we can get in but why hasn't he addressed the issue of us being the slowest team in the league?
Why sign Broja and waste half a season on a loanee that won't have contributed a single minute of football?
It's just been bad decision after bad decision. Yes the situation means it's much much harder to do the deals you'd want, but it doesn't excuse making bad decisions entirely.
Our left back options are Mykolenko and Young

Just don't sign Beto and get someone on loan, use that £5m - £7m we'll have paid this year on a new left back. Or loan a striker and then buy a decent one using that money instead.
I don't see a single decent buy Thelwell has made other than Ndaiye. Either he's bought genuine rubbish, loaned crap, loaned players unsuited for the manager, and failed to address issues in the squad as a result and further exacerbated them by adding millstones around our neck that hamper further spending.
It's a tough job but he's also failed at that job with the exception of Ndaiye and you could argue Mangala but it felt that one wasn't really anything to do with him.

Re: Dyche
Seems to be a trend here of pro and anti Dyche and their opinions on thelwell.
Moshiri has poisoned the fan base but Dyche I feel has split it with his gaslighting and salt of the earth demeanour. Neither side of the argument will relinquish an inch at this point. He’s gotta go so we can all reset and move on.

Re: Dyche
The blame seems to shift from dyche to thelwell depending on performance and results....my understandings on how the DOF works is to align with the manager and act accordingly.....
Thelwell has his job to do
dyche has his job to do
and according to some mnever the twain shall meet!
i find it hard to believe thelwell goes out and buys... say beto.... without any input from dyche....afterall dyche has to fit these signings into a squad and subsequently the first team..and turn them into a team...he cant do that if he doesn't "know" them as players and their attributes....
So on the whole I blame Dyche...he sets up not to lose...has no plan B....has his favourites no matter how they play.....has no system that can be easily adapted...waits to long to make changes...then tends to just go like for like.....etc etc etc

Re: Dyche
We were linked with Beto before Dyche took over so it seems he's been on Thelwell's radar for a while.4evablu wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:48 am The blame seems to shift from dyche to thelwell depending on performance and results....my understandings on how the DOF works is to align with the manager and act accordingly.....

Dyche may well have asked for a mobile big fucker striker but ultimately Beto is on Thelwell imo.
I think it's fair to blame Dyche for many things this season... Everyone wants him out now, even those who who supported him previously. Anyone criticising Thelwell isn't doing so to move any blame from Dyche on anything, it's more now we're all in agreement about the manager it's possible to look at other people's roles and how successful they've been or not been.
Re: Dyche
No people are rightly blaming Dyche for what's happening on the field, it's perfectly reasonable to also then question whether Thelwell has done a good job of recruitment. I don't think anyone is saying Thelwell is responsible for Dyche doing a shit job this year.
Thelwell's contract is up at the end of the year, questions need to be asked as to whether he deserves to stay on, I don't feel he does and had been a bit of a disaster albeit working under extremely difficult circumstances.

Re: Dyche
Maybe selling Onana but he was shit anyway what has changed is we have stopped doing what we were good at last season pressing from the front can’t just be letting teams play through usTheRam wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:45 am For what our aim is (stay in the premier league) it is.

Re: Dyche
Have ye gone from deflecting from dyche towards thelwell now like it’s all his fault that dyche can’t gel a group of players togetherAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:12 am Nobody is ignoring the limitations he's had to work under, it's been literally stated in any posts about his performance.

Re: Dyche
There's plenty of other examples too. Give us his 5 best signings. Tarks, timmy, onana, Harrison and ndiaye for me. They are probably the only 1s you could argue have been a success even with all the mitigation.
No one is saying uts thelwells fault not dyches. Just that they are both shite
Also thelwell was in charge when we signed no one dyches first season and we all thought we were doomed and when we failed ffp the second time despite him telling us we wouldn't
I'm not sure how he's any credit in the bank or people think he's doing a good job (with the 1st team) his career highpoint seems to be at wolves where someone else bought the players

Re: Dyche
Just FYI, as I don't think you actually read what he said, he's suggesting that Thelwell shoulders some of the responsibility too, not that he's to blame instead.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:51 pm Have ye gone from deflecting from dyche towards thelwell now like it’s all his fault that dyche can’t gel a group of players together

Jack Harrison had 16 assists for Leeds in the premier league.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:56 pm There's plenty of other examples too. Give us his 5 best signings. He is now on course to go a whole year without any goal involvements here.
Every one of the attacking players is being mismanaged.
