Genuinely not sure what the issue is there.

Would people prefer him to say ''we've done all the business we're going to, and we don't need anything more''?

He's right that two of our signings were here last season. That's echoing exactly what fans have been saying. Good signings still.

Hackney will need time to acclimatise to the step up in quality. Again, exactly what many fans have said about that transfer.

Everything he's said are things that fans have been saying themselves all summer.

Would people prefer to hear a Roberto Martinez bullshit merchant ''we've brought in one of the best talents in Europe in Hayden Hackney'', ''we've got the strongest squad we could possibly have'', ''the additions of Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl is like having two totally new people in the building''.

I thought Evertonians hated all that salesman bullshit, and wanted a manager who levelled with them and described the reality that they were seeing themselves. Apparently not.

Haha just watched the interview excepting some sort of self defeating car crash from Moyes based on the comments on here, and there's literally nothing to what he said!

As @Bluedylan1 has more eloquently posted above, what do you lot want... A manager who keeps his cards close to his chest, or a bullshit merchant?

Just because people want rid of him it doesn't mean everything has to be jumped on and made in to something it's not.

People have different opinions of the same thing, what is weird about that?

I have heard it all before from Moyes so cba with him trotting out the same old tropes.

It’s the first we’ve heard from him all pre season.

People are going to have opinions.

For me, it’s typical, self defeatist stuff from him.

He wasn’t like this when he first came in. He was talking about being ambitious, now he’s in full self preservation mode and saying Hackney needs to adapt, whilst there may be truth in it, tells us what’s going to happen with him if we go off last season.

He’s a big part of the recruitment team. He has to take a large share of the responsibility for any of its failings so it’s pointless him coming out saying we need more.

He’s the one making a lot of the decisions.

I’m personally counting down the days until he’s gone. The vibes are terrible.

I would prefer him to do his job sign a right back work batter with the transfer committee and remember it’s not Everton under kenright where he had total control of everything

I think there's legitimate things to criticise Moyes for (the collapse at the end of the season, not using the squad enough, not developing the young players enough etc).

But him saying ''we haven't got enough yet and we want more signings'' in pre-season isn't one of them (for me anyway). I completely agree with that, and I'd imagine 99% of us agree with that. We do need more players.

Who is to blame for that? We're guessing. It could be Moyes for saying ''no'' to various right backs, it could be the recruitment team for saying ''no'' to Moyes' preferred options, it could be a combination of both. We don't know that.

I think ultimately he lost the trust of many fans at the end of last season, the way it collapsed, and now it doesn't really matter what he says, lots of people will jump on it. And that's fair enough if that's how people feel. It's a legitimate perspective. But I think we should be honest and say ''it wouldn't matter what he said in a pre-season interview, I am done with him''.

Yeah, there can be a middle ground between Martinez's salesman and Moyes' defeatist.

Like Ram says, his attitude has changed since he came in, its same old shite. Boring, dull, self preservation, making expectations low. I cba.

I think he’s supposed to say we’re gonna win the fucking lot. Then he can be criticised when we don’t.

He’s done some good things since he’s been back, and been poor in other ways, pretty much par for the course for a club who were in the position we were in when the new owners took over.

The lack of a RB is appalling by everyone concerned, they’ve had over 12 months to identify targets and so far failed to get one in. That’s a collective failure of the recruitment team, not one individual

I think the nail has been hit squarely on the head.

I thought we've had a pretty solid pre season. Young lads have come on a lot, confidence returning, Hackney has done well.

Then we hear from the manager and you'd think the sky was falling in.

He could have found a middle ground by outlining he'd still like more in key areas whilst giving the lads some credit that they're looking sharp and we have some talent in the squad so he's looking forward to seeing how they get on.

He must be an absolute joy around the place day in day out.

Yeah, not having that.

I’m not one to jump on anything a manager says.

It’s the fact this is the only time we’ve heard from him, and it’s stuff we’ve heard time and time again from him when he’s in self preservation mode, which all managers get into.

As I say, the vibes are terrible.

He wasn’t like this when he first came in. He was talking the club up, talking about wanting us to compete.

Now that’s all changed. Basically saying we’re shit lads, nothing much I can do about it tbh and we’ll see that mentality on the pitch this season.

He could also have said Hackney is going to be a key player for us but having been impressed by him in pre season Moyes then says no onto the bench for you until you are ready just give the fans some positivity stop the talking down all the time

Hackney's going to be playing the first few games, with Garner and Norgaard out.

I think it would be stupid to put pressure on a new player by saying ''he's going to be a key player for us''. That would be an idiotic thing to do. You want to do the exact opposite and take the pressure off a new player.

Again, it's people looking for things to dislike.
