Re: Next Everton Manager
Just ask Marco Silva to come back.
Probably one of the best options out there right now with PL experience and he's probably maxed out Fulham's progress. Think he's better than Potter too.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Now they're in I'm a bit nervous about which way they might go with a new manager... Imagine if Sarri came in and completely tried to change how we play. Some players would no doubt love it but it also it's a high risk because it could easily go very wrong.
I think if they have any common sense they'll stick with Dyche unless we absolutely need to change. Much easier and safer to get a new manager with a radically different style when it's in the closed season and we're recruiting players who will fit the system and style of play.
I just don't want some vanity signing that they think sends a message but that message is just that they've learnt nothing from their mistakes at Roma.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Big possibility were in the bottom three after the next two games.
Would swap dyche for Sarri any day of the week.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Haha no there isn't. Ipswich have Newcastle and arsenal. There's a big chance they get 3 more points than us from them 2 games?? Wolves have Leicester and utd?? Big chance they win both?
Re: Next Everton Manager
It’s certainly a possibility considering we have Chelsea and city next.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 8:33 pm Haha no there isn't. Ipswich have Newcastle and arsenal. The fact we’re talking about this shows dyche isn’t the safe pair of hands you think he is and we should take any chance we get to improve on him.
Re: Next Everton Manager
I'm feeling a bit risk averse at the moment me you know.
I think if he gets sacked sharpish the wider football world would let out a rather large WTF.

Re: Next Everton Manager
Well yes everyone within 6 points of us has a possibility of going above us in 2 games. There's not a big chance though. There's a very small chance.
Are you suggesting we should sack him now?? I think it's a completely unnecessary risk purely for vanity at this point.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Bit of devils advocate, but what do we put Potter's early managerial career down to, do we think him taking a football team from div 4 to the top swedish division as such a huge jump? What is the difference between levels, is it more like a jump from lower midtable Championship up to the Prem (or more likely, non-league to div 2)?
We're not small by any means, Brighton were, so how does he handle a club that isn't already small? Does he have the room to build the things hes done previously?
I get that he could have a somewhat free run at things given our situation, but maybe bigger the ship the longer to turn it around? Will fans be happy with very relatively slow improvement (as opposed to instant success) with a few bumps along the way?

Re: Next Everton Manager
I think there's reasonable arguments either way at the moment.
I can see the value in keeping Dyche for now, chugging along for the rest of the season, while giving the entire club an internal audit for the next few months and then buying a new engine in the summer. I think we have enough in the squad to be safe this season, without needing crucial transfers in Jan.
If they decide to pull the plug though, because there's a specific managerial candidate they want who might only be available now, for example, then there's sufficient justification for that, as long as there's a long-term strategy in place with the appointment.

We are three points off the bottom three with Chelsea and city to play. You’re going on like we’re well out of trouble.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 5:02 am Well yes everyone within 6 points of us has a possibility of going above us in 2 games. Sacking him today? No.
Having a replacement lined up and moving relatively quickly to replace him. Yes.
I don’t think it would be for vanity at all.
I think our level has been so low this season a new manager with fresh ideas would be a good thing.

Re: Next Everton Manager
we have to keep dyche until the end of the season
if we for example appointed potter now and he royally fucked up and has too much pressure on him at a bigger club than brighton are - where there is clearly no pressure whatsoever - he had time whereas right now at everton the climate we have is very different
would welcome potter in the summer -if he wanted to come to everton - and next season where he has at least some time to build his own team
.........at the moment we are far from safe from the drop

Re: Next Everton Manager
If Potter had taken over last year with us in the relegation zone and then had an 8 point deduction would we still be a Premier league club ? Just asking.
Re: Next Everton Manager
Being far from safe is a reason for change isn’t it?Evertonfc15 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 9:14 am we have to keep dyche until the end of the season
