Proper shame that.
Sounds like the put all their effort into the South Stand, and then couldn't be arsed with the rest.
I am in love with the Upper South bar though. Its amazing. Proper jewel in our crown. It was the reason why I decided to get my season ticket there.
When it opened I used to call the gallery in the LiverpoolOne Odeon the best bar in Liverpool.
That Upper South now gets that line out of me all the time.
My main method of avoiding the horror show of getting away from the place is stopping for a pint/coke for 45 minutes after the game. (Opening after the game was a fucking master stroke, by the way)
Cultural outing aside, I'd be keen to understand a bit more about the thought behind why a pint is deemed an absolute necessity for seemingly almost everyone at half time, when there's the high potential of missing some of the next, or end of the first, half.
I mean there could be 50 thousand patrons each getting drinks and food all in a 15 minute 'hydration break' - what kind of venues service this volume in a confined area without queues?
That's almost 100 patrons served every second.
(assuming it takes 5 minutes to get up/down the stairs etc, more per second given the crowd arriving at roughly the same time)
Wouldn't you just have one pre match, and be able to wait until the 90 is up? One in 5 goals are scored 5 minutes either side of half time.
I can understand the requirement for toilet facilities and them having a valid high use / demand.
Football being a quasi-religious experience I can understand the ritualistic nature of the process.
