It feels more like they're expecting him to take us down this season, but they don't want to say anything....yet

Why is it we reckon he's not playing with two forwards close together like he did at Burnley?

It's not forward options surely as he more forward options than any other manager in our last 5 years or so.

Centre mids?

Isn't that basically what we play when Doucs is further up the pitch?

I'd say he's nominally a forward but not close enough to be a CF, not close enough to the CMs to be a 8, not on the ball enough or even really available for it to be a 10.

Just a loose guy who's job is to run around and do everything.

I just don't think we have the CMs capable of playing in a 2, as although Doucoure is in the 10 he drops back in to midfield when we're defending.

Also maybe the lack of a viable striker to play up top with DCL as we've seen with Beto they have zero chemistry and occupy the same positions.

I really do think Broja and DCL would work though, and I think Mangala and Gana would be ok if we did it. It's not like Doucoure is pulling up any trees and he's never close enough to DCL to benefit from his flick ons.

Stick McNeil left, Ndaiye right, go direct and let Broja feed of DCL. It's not the footy we want to see but it'd probably be a lot more effective than the turgid shite we're serving up.

Probably a reflection of how the rest of the league is playing - everyone has three in the middle nowadays so we’d be consistently outnumbered

Doucs does cover for other problems in the team though. He was everywhere against city, frequently popping up to help double up with the fullback, or to fill gaps caused by other movement.

I feel like he both stops us being better but is a big reason we're not worse.

That article is hilariously unsubtle

Shouts of 'f***ing get out of our club' were heard after a Carabao Cup exit against Southampton in September from areas of the ground where parents take their children. The boos have rarely been silenced at the ground since.
