His comparison to the liverpool players is more about importance to the team rather than ability to be fair to him, and as much as he has his flaws, we've done better with him in the team than out of it and he has played a big part in keeping us up. Saying that, I still think he's wrong to put himself into the bracket, as I think pickford, tarks and gueye are all more important.

I think he does want to stay, but like almost all of us in any job, it's tied to him getting what he thinks he's worth. Unfortunately for him, now we're in a more stable position and able to spend, he's replaceable for less. Especially as we're now going to play in a way that asks more of him.

If he'd mentioned any other club than liverpool I think it'd be less of an issue.

I don't think him mentioning Liverpool is the issue. He's mentioning 2 of the best players in the world, playing for a very successful very financially stable club

He's got 3 goals and 1 assist. I'm not sure how that performance even at our much lower level proves he deserves more money like salah and VVD.

The issue isn't he mentioned Liverpool. It's that he seems completely delusional about his level of performance and his value. I don't think anyone is remotely angry. It's a talking point because his opinion of himself really doesn't align to the fans.

We were discussing if he'd be worth keeping at 60k and he's a bit miffed we ain't offered him 140-150.

1 year contract on the same dough with an option of a 1 year extension. I could go along with.
Longer than that and it’s adios for me.
Been a good player overall and puts in what he can. His passing and control is hugely limited though these days

Grateful for his contribution in keeping us up, especially in dyche's 1st season.
However it's pretty obvious that his importance and contribution to the team has fallen away since then.
It's totally unrealistic of him to expect the same wages, never mind an increase.
It's a bit sad it's come to this but to me he's shown a lack off class with his actions

I'll cut the fella a bit of slack and presume he's just said something stupid without thinking. But he's not getting the same money and for that reason it's time for him to go while fans still think highly of him.

It's just incredibly odd him moaning that everton won't pay him the Saudi rate. Of course we bloody won't
Yeah I'm not sure he really expects that, came across more as 'they think I should be paid less so I'm going to say I should be paid in even more'. If we offered him a deal on the same wages I'm pretty sure he'd stay.

I'd argue 130k a week given his age and the season hes had is still Saudi wages.
I mean there's no debate we've rarely got value for money these last few years so even asking for the old everton rate is a bit ridiculous. I'll be amazed if there's an offer at 6.5m a year anywhere but Saudi for him

I genuinely don't think anyone is offended by what he's said. Just amazed at how far apart we are. Half of us would have been a bit disappointed had we retained him at 50%

Also it's not about someone earning big money. Its about value. If gueye was asking for the same as what he got they'd be much less amazement about that.

Yeah he's not worth £130k a week so I guess that is Saudi money as they'd be the only ones willing to pay it.

Anyway think this is probably good for us because it hopefully ends any chance of finding a deal.

Ivan Toney is on €490k a week out there. Wijnaldum on €280k.
Jesus, Demarai Gray is on €100k!
Let's not pretend he wouldn't get a wedge in Saudi.

No one is saying he wouldn't. Just that if you want Saudi money you don't moan about how you deserve it at Everton. You go to Saudi for it

One of those fucking annoying buzz phrases that seems to have crept in to everything.

Anyway, Doucoure........ :)
Sometimes it do be like that tho

Was going to bring up Demarai Gray earlier, scorer of important goals and assists, even he had better numbers in his last two seasons with us than Doucoure has had in his last two here.

100k for a 28yo in Saudi makes 60-70k for a 32yo in the premier sound very reasonable.

It's simple... here's the deal. Take it, or thanks for everything you've done.
