Did alright when he was here to be fair.

Was he in charge of all the recruitment at westham?

Nah managers should be involved in recruitment but the time has gone when they should be front and centre. Be very disappointed if we don't bring someone in

No, they had a DOF, think Moyes fell out with him though and banned him from the training ground.

The game's moved on from the manager being in charge of recruitment, the manager and DOF should work together on it. I'll be surprised and disappointed if we don't bring one in.

Shame for Thelwell, would have liked to have seen him build with less restrictions around him.

Makes sense though new owners want a complete clean break and to start over.

Think he's done an admirable job with some incredibly tight restrictions, wouldn't have minded at all him getting a fair crack next year.

Think it was maybe more on his part as it was rumored he was wanting out anyway.

Done a good Job for me, let's get the next appointment right.

Think I’d be happy with Weir, especially as he’s one of Moyes boys.

If Moyes hadn't fallen into our lap a couple of months ago Thelwell would probabley leaving us in the Championship.

I thought the DOF from Leeds was linked.

And weve seen his signings perform better under Moyes which means that his recruitment has been sound

Done a very good job imo but he was probably the man for that type of situation.

Now we need someone with a bit more pedigree to take us forward.

My only worry is we have a lot to do in the summer and I’d want us to be identifying players already.

If we get a new Dof in the summer it could set us back quite a bit.

Fully agree that plans should already be underway, but have to think the current situation was kind of unavoidable with the takeover only happening in December.

Agree with all of this. I would presume anyone we are planning on hiring in the summer will know within the next couple months. I presume they will be formulating plans and strategies with those at the club to be able to hit the ground running come the beginning of the new DoF contract.

Agreed, new guy will know now already, and will be assessing everything as we speak, it won’t be a case of Thelwell leaves in June and we start looking then.
