The race for... Europe?
Re: The race for... Europe?
Ah Bournemouth got lucky there. That does probably take them out of our grasp.
Re: The race for... Europe?
Even if we win all three I cant see us catching Bournemouth.
Might need to win all 3 just to get 8th at this rate.

Re: The race for... Europe?
Yeah we have to win all 3 for me.
And hope for some results to go our way in other games.

I don't know what fixtures you guys are looking at.
You both think Chelsea will win at home against Spurs and away to Sunderland or you both think Brentford will win at either the Ethiad or Anfield (in addition to beating Palace at home which they probably will)?

Re: The race for... Europe?
Brentford are in 8th, three points ahead with a better goal difference. A win and a draw from them means we need to win all 3 unless there is a big swing in goal difference, we have very little or no room for error now.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 4:12 pm I don't know what fixtures you guys are looking at.

Re: The race for... Europe?
Let's hope City win 4-0 then!
If we win 2 of our matches then the goal difference can be caught imo

Re: The race for... Europe?
I thought Chelsea played pretty well today against Liverpool, feels like the players might be swinging back in giving a shit mode. They’re a hard one to call as if they can be arsed they can play well. If they do bother then yes I think they definitely could beat Spurs and a Sunderland team that’s pretty much on the beach.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 4:12 pm I don't know what fixtures you guys are looking at.

Brentford, hard to call again they could win all three (unlikely) or draw all three. It feels like they’re often a bit like us and play well at times but also drop silly points too. They’re on 51 pts now though with a better goal difference, so even if they only add 4 pts then 7 pts only puts us on level points and likely below them due to goal difference…so again we’d need three wins unless they really get tonked along the way.
I just think 9 points is what we’ll need to do, maybe 7 could do it…but I think 9. Maybe we get lucky and Brentford and Chelsea struggle and it ends up being a lot less.
Re: The race for... Europe?
I think it's all on tomorrow anyway. If we can't beat a Palace side on the beach in the league then we won't get Europe. Win that, we should go into the Sunderland game against a team on the beach and then who knows what position Spurs will be in on the final day.
I just think ultimately focus on ourselves, we've got two very winnable games to put us in a position to compete for Europe on the last day.

Re: The race for... Europe?
Not sure what the exact scenario is but there is a possibility of 9th qualifying for Conf League, has to do with other teams winning cups, either in Europe or FA Cup, anyone know what it is ?

Re: The race for... Europe?
Not that am aware,
8th place if City win the Fa cup ,
we could have 9 teams in Europe if Palace win the Conference.
8th place all depends on City IF Chelsea win the cup then they will take a Europa League place if the finish out side of the European places , similar to Palace last season, it cost Brighton who finished 8th .....
the bit am not sure on is if
Villa Win Europa league , Finish 5th then 6th gets CL.
However not sure what finishing 7th gets you

Re: The race for... Europe?
Don't disagree there. Win tomorrow and we remain in a good position. Hopefully tied for 8th with a GD gap closer to 2 than now.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2026 4:43 pm I think it's all on tomorrow anyway. Need city to turn up here though.

Re: The race for... Europe?
Brentford's goal difference did take a hit there, so that's a positive for sure.
Re: The race for... Europe?
As others have said, we're still in with a decent chance if we beat palace, even more so if we smash them. Draw or lose tomorrow and we're pretty much out of any European place IMO.

Here’s how 10th COULD possibly qualify.
