Euro 2024 Discussion
Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Presumably it will be one of the first things implemented now that the teams have voted to keep it, there's no reason not to.

Danny Murphy's spent the night going on like Martinez is some kind of genius manager.

I think it took about 10 seconds to say offside, I dread to think how many minutes it'd have taken in the premier league, and even then I'm not convinced they'd have got the decision right.
Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
We are sort of getting it. Just the point of offside is still going to be decided by the VAR people because the premier league balls don't have the sensors in them.

Same with Mbappe, Haaland and even Messi.
Were they conceited twats before they got to the top of the game, or has it made them that way.

Also let's not forget the rape allegations with Ronaldo, where he paid the woman 375k to silence her and keep it out of court.
There's that as well.

Football at this tournament is so much more enjoyable than a lot of games in the premier league.
Teams are a lot more direct and off the cuff.
Going long off goal kicks, winning second balls, lot of crosses, lots of goals from outside the area, just a faster more exciting game all round.
The minor nations continue to get better as well which makes this competition more competitive as the years go on.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Yeah it's been an excellent tournament so far. Quite a few teams I'm excited to watch again, and some big matchups I'm looking forward to.
Definitely a trend towards more incisive football with lots of people able to transition quicky into counter attacks. Really fun to watch. There's no one of the calibre of Guardiola in international management who's able to control the entirety of games, so it makes for more fluid, exciting football. Even seeing Spain move away from tiki-taka and play with rapid, direct wingers. There haven't been many low blocks employed. Teams seem to be having a go, with the odd exception.
