Hes better than Patterson defensively and while he's pretty awful offensively patterson doesn't really even get involved at that end of the pitch

Both are nowhere near good enough though
Patterson achieves nothing in attack because all of our play is down the left hand side.

I genuinely think if their flanks were switched we’d be fine with Patterson the one getting involved in attacks and interplay and Mykolenko being asked to defend and provide enough width to stretch play without ever actually doing anything

I thought Patterson was fine, not great, not terrible but he's getting better the more he plays. Had a couple of interceptions, think he won the ball back that lead to the goal, played a nice ball for Garner, he's certainly more positive with the ball than Myko and doesn't just knock it backwards every time he gets it. He was unlucky to be the one subbed although I think he was starting to tire a bit.

Not worthy comparison really, are they? Mykolenko has had the odd injury but he's played well over 100 times for us and has about 3 assists. He's not struggling with match fitness, he's not getting up to speed, it's just at a point where his teammates are seemingly avoiding giving him the ball.

Whether Patterson is good enough or not, there are a lot more reasons to defend him than there are Myko.

I dont think there was a lot in it last night. Mykolenkos biggest problem is he's too involved. Pattersons attacking strength seems to be that hes barely involved and so we assume he has some quality

They are probably the worst pair in the league

I was really pleased with Patterson last night defensively. Shame he didnt get to show more as a wing back, but the defensive side of it 1st half was good.

If it’s a four, just put garner there or Branthwaite.

He was protected under dyche because the ball was constantly launched over him, he wasn’t asked to go forward and we basically played six at the back.

Now we’re trying to build, open up, and our width comes from our full backs he’s badly exposed.
If Moyes does this, which he maybe maybe might, he will want a defensive counterweight on the other side which we maybe don't have / would be Jake somehow or maybe Coleman.

Scored an OG but actually put in one of his best ever performances for us.

Did brilliantly with that assist and that challenge to stop Jiminez from scoring 2nd half was top draw defending. No blame attached for the OG either, just unfortunate.

He's not going to suddenly turn in to our answer at LB but hopefully that will have done his confidence a load of good.

Poor first half, like the whole side really but thought the second half, he was very good. Hope he gains some confidence from that second half performance
