General Transfer Thread
Re: General Transfer Thread
Yeah we definitely did, not great from BBC that. Can't blame them for thinking nobody would pay money for Ben Godfrey though.
Re: General Transfer Thread
See that Spurs and Newcastle are apparently in for Grealish. Would be interesting to see how he gets on in a team where he's given more freedom again. No idea how much he's worth these days, he's 29 now.
Could mean Gordon is off to the shite as well.

Re: General Transfer Thread
They even reported it as a £10m fee.
Atalanta sign Godfrey in £10m deal from Everton - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/arti ... 2g5n5edmpo

Re: General Transfer Thread
Grealish is definitely better than what he has shown at City and you would imagine he has an upturn after a move but he was never in a million years a £100m footballer. That fee is probably one of the greatest sales in the PL era.
That fee made him the most expensive English player of all time and that was frankly ridiculous. I'm not saying he couldn't do well somewhere. Eddie Howe might get a tune out of him and his goals and assists should definitely improve but he wasn't, isn't and never will be that level of footballer.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

Re: General Transfer Thread
Develop them, loan them, if productive, put a price on their head.
We kinda develop them, never loan them, keep them playing against kids 3 to 4 years their junior, release on a free.
The couple of times we’ve loaned out talent (Cannon/Simms) we’ve got ok fees. We just need to show consistency and the prices will inflate themselves based on a few good examples of us developing players to a decent level.

Re: General Transfer Thread
The Doak deal is a Joke, apparently dubbed the Scottish Messi. RS poached him from Celtic .
Internationally ran rings around Garvidol in a recent game
They're had some dodgy fees in the past Ibe, Wilson, Solanke? Williams and probably half a dozen more , but 30m if any club pays any where near that need questions.
No goals and 3 senior game 2 goals for Middlesbrough .
Re: General Transfer Thread
5 assists as well and he's only just turned 19, it's not like he's 23-24 and played 100s of senior games.weimaranerblues wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 10:53 am The Doak deal is a Joke, apparently dubbed the Scottish Messi. RS poached him from Celtic .

Very highly thought of both at Liverpool and in Scotland, I'm surprised Liverpool are looking to let him go but it's probably purely for the money. £30m does seem a lot if that's what they get but fair play to them if they do, imagine buying a young player, developing him then selling for a big profit, it's the kind of business we can only dream of.

I don’t see it, they’ve already got Diaz, Gakpo, Jota and Chiesa who all want to play LW.Shogun wrote: Could mean Gordon is off to the shite as well.
Their next big buy will be a Salah replacement for the other side
