6 league titles after managing Bayern, PSG, Real Madrid, Juventus, Milan, Chelsea and Everton isn't that impressive though.

Great manager but a distant 3rd for me.

I think Ancelotti is definitely one of the greatest managers of all time. I know people will say that throughout most of his managerial career he’s mostly managed teams that you expect to be competing for the title of that respective domestic competition, but he still has had to manage many top class players many of whom have big egos who he’s had to win the win the respect of and it’s not easy at all to win the Champions League on many occasions in a 22 year period.

Saying that, I would say Alex Ferguson is ahead of him just because when he took over both Aberdeen and Man Utd, they were not expected to challenge for the titles of the Scottish or English top flight but he managed to transform both and have them even win some silverware in Europe. His tenure at Man Utd was also impressive since he managed to win titles during a 20 year spell even with squads towards the end that you could argue were not as strong as some of the other competitors.

Alex Ferguson was a great manager but I do sometimes think people over exaggerate quite how badly United were struggling. They hadn't won the league in a long time but he took over in 1986 after they had won the FA Cup and finished 4th (one point off second) in 1985.

I sometimes think people imagine United staving off relegation before his arrival the way people go on.

That is not to knock the incredible period he had and the sustained success makes him an all time great but I think the depth of the pit he dragged United out of is sometimes a bit overblown.

have to include jose in there too
but fergie is the top manager for me - his record at aberdeen was amazing 10 major trophies inc european trophies league titles and scottish cups -
and at manu he won 38 major trophies ffs inc 13 league titles and 2 european cups
