The new ground won't be built, so wouldn't worry about it. Clear they don't have the finances sorted and will be looking for a hand-out.

I tend to agree but I wonder if they package it as an Aussie style multi sports venue, could they wangle public funding?

The Super League Grand Final is already there, the Challenge Cup could easily move there as Manchester is much nearer RL heartlands than London is. England RL home games have no permanent home but that could be it.

Could a case be made for England football to not exclusively play at Wembley as well as some sort of repackaged northern powerhouse, periodically reheated idea when the govt need to appease those of us north of the M25?

American football seems to be like flies round shit trying to get over here. Could one of them agree a deal for so many games a season, or a rotation of teams?

As a standalone Man United stadium I agree with you, I very much doubt it happens but all this nonsense speak of "potentialities and opportunities" makes me wonder if they have more grandiose ambitions.

*As a comparison, the MCG hosts Aussie national cricket games, Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash, Victoria CC in first class cricket, six different Melbourne AFL teams for between 1 and 10 games a season each and the Melbourne Storm RL team. LA Rams are going to have a regular spot there from next year too.

OT is never going to get that busy but the proposed is a similar capacity and could certainly look to expand beyond just being MUFC's home.

Really, really hope Tottenham beat them in the Europa League final.

They've been so bad for so long, that with their current financial troubles, manager/players struggling and their stadium falling apart, missing out on Europe - especially CL qualification - would be crushing for them and could trigger a very difficult spiral.
