Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Like to hear the reason for that , not stopping the goalie from seeing the ball , fuck stopping him from diving, he had no time to react ball was in the net in a flash
Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
And it looked like the French defender was in the eyeline of the keeper more than the Dutch player

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Yeah I don't imagine it was anything to do with eyelines...he is stood to the side of the keeper. I think it was "obstruction".
These situations where the player is stood near a goalie is handled very inconsistently by VAR, we've seen a few examples of this go either way this season in the PL.
Needs simplifying or clarifying. Preferably simplifying.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Considering we had a goal chalked off because DCL was laid on the floor in front of a standing De Gea not affecting the eye-line or obstructing then you damn well best be disallowing that Netherlands goal.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Dull game. Lots of shots but I never felt immersed in this game. Poland Austria was more fun.
Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Decent result for Holland, played France at a good time as they're very blunt without Mbappe.
I think disallowing the goal was the right call, I don't think the keeper was getting there but I do think the player would have prevented him making an attempt to if he wanted to... The fact he probably wouldn't have is subjective and I don't think there's an allowance for 'probably would have gone in'.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
I saw a good piece on analysis on FourFourTwo YouTube channel yesterday about how we can't beat a press playing Rice as a 6 as he doesn't have that passing ability to play through the lines. Great at everything else but not good as a 6 expected to bypass a press.
Everyone's talking about dropping TAA but along with that does Rice need to be dropped as well?

----------------Bellingham
--------------------------------Foden
Is Southgate brave enough to drop Rice as well as TAA? I think we all know the answer to that.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Of course the first game with a long VAR check and controversy is with the English refs.
I’ve found the refs from abroad are more willing to add common sense which is why their checks are so quick.
Keeper isn’t getting to that shot either way so it should’ve been a goal.

Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
Yeah, who’d have thought, the problem with VAR isn’t the technology itself but the idiots using the technology incorrectly. Stuart Atwell is a plonker.
Re: Euro 2024 Discussion
I don't think Rice is the problem. Put someone like Wharton next to him, with his ability to pass through the lines and with Rice breaking up play and giving him the ball, we'd be transformed.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 7:26 am I saw a good piece on analysis on FourFourTwo YouTube channel yesterday about how we can't beat a press playing Rice as a 6 as he doesn't have that passing ability to play through the lines. I don't think Mainoo is the answer really, I may be wrong but I don't think he has the same passing game.
