Jarrad Branthwaite
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
The reason why he didn't go for England and why some think 70m is too much is down to him playing for us and our tactics. He plays in a team that defends the box and has pretty decent cover in front, as good as he looks, I think the jury is still out that he could play for a more attacking, possession based team that plays higher up the field, without being exposed.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Plus Stones isn't left/two-footed. Branthwaite is almost a unicorn, especially for any teams that need "home grown" English players for European roster limits.Shogun wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 4:51 pm People said the same when we rejected £40m from Chelsea for Stones and we ending up selling him a year later for £10m more. Some players are just obviously going to be brilliant.
Mind you, Man United fans still haven't figured out that we don't need or want to sell him and therefore think they've one-upped us by not meeting our valuation. We'll probably sell him for £70m next season, we'd rather keep him for now.
Branthwaite also seems like he has a better/more "leader-y" mentality, too. There's really no flies on this kid (as Southern folk sometimes say).

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Looking forward to seeing the Man I fume when he signs for City for big money and becomes part of the best England CB duo we’ve had in a generation.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Ridiculous isn't it.
What have they paid for this no-mark? 62M?
And they thought 35M was reasonable for Branthwaite.

That quote has come from a reporter with the MEN, which means it's probably come from Ratcliffe & Co to pander to their fans.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Utd fans think he's the second coming of baresi. Madrid wanted him so he must be great. They didn't want him fir anything like the money utd are paying. Hope he gets bullied every week
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
It's fine for United and I hope the signing works out for them. This lad was in the last year of his contract, and so Lille either accepted funds for him now, or risk losing him for free.
AND, they have had to pay more than they initially bid for JB, someone who is older, more experienced, English (for home grown rules) knows the PL and has 3 years left on his contract with a team that pretty much needs to keep him.
Just shows how deluded their bids really were.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Man U fans are crazy. Apparently we must be gutted we've lost the chance to sell them Braithwaite. Also every other club will now quote us ridiculous prices when we try to buy players.
On yoro apparently he's a generational talent. 1 of only 3 defenders in world football capable of going for over 100m. 60m is under paying. 1 of the most talented defenders in the modern game. I've genuinely never even heard of him never mind seen him play. I'd assume most football fans are in that same position

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Apparently they were after Yoro but refused to pay what United payed for a young boy with one year left on his contract.
They are looking for a young CB. So who knows next season?
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
The fact is that it is very unlikely that Yoro will be ready at 18 years old for PL football at Man Utd at Centre Back. He is 3 and half years younger than Branthwaite and so unless this guy is the next Matthius Sammer, then they will still be short at CB and playing Maguire and Lindelof alongside the injury prone Martinez.
He looks wafer thin as well, like a stiff breeze would blow him over. Needs a lot of work before he becomes the real deal compared with JB who can already play.
