Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Seeing Beto and Doucourè up top yesterday was painful. Neither could keep the ball. Ndiaye and DCL could be the combo that keeps us up. Hopefully Chemiti is fit in Jan and Broja is up and running so Beto can go on loan back to Seria A with a view to move back. Lovely lad but not gonna work here.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Worth a word on him I think. Two goals and an assist so far and well worth it. Huge shame about the two chances that went behind, plus one flashed across the side yard box without him getting to it. But he looks good so far this year to me.
Rest him on Tuesday.

Yeah looks back to form and sharper than he did last season. Hope the double one on one misses doesn't impact his confidence.brap2 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 4:42 pm Worth a word on him I think. He absolutely should have buried at least one but at least he's getting in those positions again.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Up until that first one on one miss in the Villa game (still think he was offside, but haven't bothered to check) I thought it was the best he'd looked in months. If he could play like that regularly this season, he'd have a boatload of offers by the end.
After that, seemed to look more out of sorts again.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Re the miss. I like DCL and often have a bit of a reach in defending him so I’m gonna tread lightly. But I think he had Martinez pants down 1v1 because he wasn’t sure he could slot against him at that angle and then because he took the time to skin the cunt it gave the defender that extra couple of seconds to come back and do a great piece of defending.
I’m actually leaning on the side of being more impressed that he did that mouthy cunt like a kipper than I’m disappointed him missing.

Interesting, really nice to hear and this sounds like he'll be signing a new 10 year deal, as at the current rate he'll need that to get those 13 goals to surpass Rom, but in all seriousness, it does make it sound like hes committed to us:
The 27-year-old says he has Romelu Lukaku's total of 68 in his sights and wants to etch himself into Blues history before his time at the club does come to an end. He added: "For me, I'm joint-third top scorer in the Premier League for Everton so I need 13 more goals at this moment in time to surpass Romelu.
"As you can see, I know a lot about that. That's been something on my agenda from the start of the season - being Everton's all-time highest scorer in the Premier League. For me, that would be a very, very proud achievement.
"I want to etch my name in Everton's history forever. It's something that I'm dead set on achieving. We're playing a small part in the club's history now - with our last season at Goodison. I think there's something special about the place and, for all the great number nines who have played at Goodison, and had the privilege of doing it, I’ll be the last one to carry that load. That's very special to me."

Starting to realise no one else is paying him 5m a year and giving him minutes
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
We need so many players in the summer I'd happily keep DCL if at all possible. I'd also like to see what he could do under someone like Potter where his job isn't quite as difficult as it is right now.
He finally looks like he's got his body working and has the confidence in it, so if he even gets back to being a 10 goal a season striker which I do think he could achieve under the right conditions, then it'd be easier to keep him than replace.
