Re: Dwight McNeil
Didnt we stay up by 4 points? Plus even regardless of that its factually nonsense. We stayed up because of the people who made consistent contributions and struggled badly in part because dcl was never fit and Ali did nothingPaddockoldie wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2026 7:23 am Factually they did. Without that win, we were down. Same with Decoure, regardless of overall contribution.

Re: Dwight McNeil
That's another point of view, yes. At least we didn't go down, but he's offered nothing all season. Let him go and get time. He's a decent one footed player without doubt777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2026 9:18 am Didnt we stay up by 4 points? Plus even regardless of that its factually nonsense. Re: Dwight McNeil
Absolute world class finish today from the not so big man.
Big season incoming from him I'm sure of it.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Unless this is for some weird PSR style deal that makes no sense.
This is twice Johnson's name has been brought up though of late, and it's scaring me a bit.
Re: Dwight McNeil
I could see the sense in that for us if Palace are entertaining it.
Johnson is a pure run in behind and get shots off type. We don’t really have anyone else in the wide areas with that sort of desire to get goals except maybe Ndiaye who could either be on the move or forced to do more of the work holding the ball up and carrying it from deep on the left if Grealish isn’t back.
Even if Ndiaye goes and Grealish comes back, Johnson is a perfect stylistic complement on the other side.
What’s his deal off the pitch though? I assume everyone from that Spurs dressing room is a dickhead until I hear otherwise.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He's a funny one Johnson, had 15 goal involvements in 33 games season before last (11goals / 4 assists).
Went off the boil, ended up at Palace but that hasn't worked out. Pretty sure Glasner played 3-4-2-1 though unless I'm mistaken, which might be part of the reason.
25, has previous performed well at this level, fast, knows how to score, plays on the right where we need someone. I could see the positives but not for anywhere near what Palace paid for him... Swap for McNeil and some change though? Yeah I'd be interested.

Re: Dwight McNeil
We’d definitely be the first (and only club) told we weren’t allowed to do a transfer because we’d overvalued our player…777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2026 8:19 pm I quite like Johnson not amazing but neither is mcneil. 50m each player. Everyone wins
Re: Dwight McNeil
Getting rid of McNeil is a great outcome for us, replacing him with Brennan Johnson isn't.
100% he's better than McNeill, so we'd be doing better, but he's still not good. Let's not swap shit for shit, sell shit then move on.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He is good though.
He’s not complete, he’s a fairly poor passer and chance creator despite having multiple seasons with 10 assists to his name (one in the Championship, mind you).
But he rates highly for getting into good shooting positions, carrying the ball, and not giving it away cheaply. All things that can help balance our team without creating new problems.
