Re: Carlos Alcaraz
Really not arsed for Hackney. He aint that young. Not sure hes going to be much of anything in the premier league.
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
It was a bit of a stop start season for him and like a few he only really got a run of games when we had AFCON and suspensions etc then he got his injury so we'll never know if Moyes would have stuck with him or dropped him as soon as everyone was back. It's difficult for a player to find any kind of form or sharpness when you're only getting short run outs a lot of the time. Although he does remind me a wee bit of some of those Japanese robots you see on TV at the moment where they're working fine then suddenly fuck off in the completely wrong direction and trip over their own feet.
I don't have a problem if he leaves, relatively low cost signing on a shortish deal so it's no great disaster that it didn't really work out.

Pretty much exactly how I feel. I like him, I think he has something about him, but I just don't see a role for him in the team. After we've just spent the money on Rohl I'd rather have him in that position. Then you have Armstrong developing as well. No room for Alcaraz's inconsistency really - think it's better for all parties that he moves on, as he won't be getting the regular playing time he needs with us.Gash wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 12:32 pm It was a bit of a stop start season for him and like a few he only really got a run of games when we had AFCON and suspensions etc then he got his injury so we'll never know if Moyes would have stuck with him or dropped him as soon as everyone was back. I don’t disagree with any of that.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 12:04 pm I think the argument against this though is that if we put that money towards Hackney we'll likely see a much bigger return on investment.
Never hidden my love a Alcaraz, but I'd wager in 2-3 years time Hackney would be worth tens of millions more than Charlie.
I’m just thinking that if we have better prospects already (Dibling, Armstrong) and plenty of players for that position, then we shouldn’t have had him in the first place. The money would have been better going somewhere where we could make more of a profit or, ideally, vastly improve the starting 11.
Re: Carlos Alcaraz
He's a good player individually but obviously there's something missing and not only is he a little rough around the edges but I don't anyone even knows his best position.
Playing at a decent championship club every week would do him a world of good.

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
He's a strange one. He's very nearly there but just lacking a bit of positional or tactical awareness or something. It's not going to swing the dial too much either way so if we can get decent money move him on. Probably much the same with Tim.

Re: Carlos Alcaraz
Not massively bothered if hes sold individually but how many of our signings would any of us be bothered if they were sold a year/ 6 months on?
