Exactly what I think too, he'd be a very low risk signing and given the right service I'd imagine there's a decent possibility of him getting a decent goals return. If not they've got a decent option off the bench to see out tight games which is still worth it for them.Bornblue88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 12:54 pm I personally think he’d be a great signing for Arsenal. Mikel seems to want to stick with Havertz as kind of a false 9 but his finishing and decision making is poor. Dom’s strengths are in the air, hold up play, and 6 yard box poaching like under Ancelotti. It would be very low risk on a free and gives them a different dimension at least when the starting 11 can find a breakthrough. They’re crying out for a goal hanging target man like Haaland but with better hold up play. Obviously Haaland is a much better finisher. Sometimes I think they run out of ideas when they can’t get in behind teams so a Giroud style option on the bench could be the difference maker

He’d do fine at Arsenal tapping in cut backs and nodding home from no further than 6 yards outsam of the south wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 1:01 pm I would cringe watching Dom squander chance after chance for Arsenal.
I hope he goes to a lesser side like Newcastle.

I’m not sure, man.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 2:18 pm He’d do fine at Arsenal tapping in cut backs and nodding home from no further than 6 yards out
He did have that great little streak under Ancelotti, but it was very fleeting, and he’s missed some proper sitters since.
I dunno, I still love him, but I think he might actually be a bit rubbish in front of goal.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Make chances for him in the six yard box.
Ancelotti worked it out in about ten mins. Nobody else seems to have managed it.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Well yeah, but we had James Rodriguez who was several leagues above most players in the division, Richarlison on rocket fuel, and Digne and Coleman both playing well, so quite a few creative, offensive options at that time

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
That plan didn’t work as well in the second half of the season. He’s literally had the one productive spell (in the first half of that season) in his whole time with us.
I like DCL but apart from the above period he’s never been a prolific goal scorer & probably never will be.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I'd score goals if they just made chances for me in the 6 yard box. He's been largely terrible now for about 3 or 4 years. It's not someone else's fault because we aren't creating him chances 6 yards from goal. He's missed numerous good chances. His a shit goalscorer

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
He also has a couple of players that were capable of doing that, and people around dom that were also a threat.
We're missing more than just ancelotti from that equation
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Well he's certainly moving on anyway. Hasn't scored enough goals for us.
I will always remember him extremely fondly because of the work he's done for us, certainly given us his best years under some dreadful managers playing awful football and hardly getting a touch in the box.
Missed our opportunity to sell and his back up is one of the worst I've seen at back to goal play so far. Huge shame Chermiti is injured.
Sell in Jan if there's an offer, but I very much doubt there would be.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Where is he going to go? I'm genuinely struggling to think of anywhere better than Everton where he's going to get significant game time. Or.maybe he's happy to sit on the bench somewhere picking up a wage for the rest of his career.brap2 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 9:10 am Well he's certainly moving on anyway. Maybe he's better than you think.
Maybe he's better than he looks at the minute.
Maybe he's worse than I think.
Who knows.
But he's not retiring this summer is he, he'll go somewhere. Juve rumoured to be interested. Milan rumoured to be interested. He wouldn't have to go too high to be somewhere a lot better than here.
