The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
I really can't stand Jorginho, even when he was at his peak. The king of sideways passes, not particularly strong, not a dribbler, not quick, can't tackle, has few goal contributions outside of his penalties (missed in the Euros Final though didn't he). It's a big no from me, I've never seen it with him and certainly wouldn't want to be saddled with a 33 year old version who has 2 goals (both pens) and 3 assists from his 3 years at Arsenal.
But now I've got that off my chest, he's going to Brazil anyway!

Re: The Rebuild
Yeah, not worth what he was on that's for sure.
Worry is they tell Gana to take a pay cut too and he fucks off. We really need to get that one right.
Even bigger worry is we ask Keane to take a pay cut and he accepts!
Re: The Rebuild
I think at times players end up losing a bit of a grip on reality, unless the likes of Young has Saudi clubs offering daft money to go there you'd think something like £30-40k a week would be great money for a player who'll be 40 next season and a bit part player, not many clubs are going to take on a 40 year old player on £50k+ a week. Maybe it came down to game time more than money but if it's money then I'm glad the club are finally seeing sense and not paying over the odds for these players.
The only exception to the rule for me would be Gana, unbelievable level he's still playing at and I'd give him decent money to stay, he's pretty unique.

Re: The Rebuild
Doucs and Young being offered sensible contracts (nothing personal, but our financial position is more important than an individuals ego) and passing on Broja?
Keep this up and i'll start to think we're being ran by professionals

Re: The Rebuild
£40k a week according to Sportrak, £83k according to Toffee web, take your pick.

Re: The Rebuild
Absolutely no doubt that Douc will get a decent contract elsewhere, and Young is at the end of his career - fair play if he wants to carry on into his 40s but that’s not our issue.
We have Harrison Armstrong to come back into the fold to get some
Game time next season and provide cover, and I want to see N’Diaye / Alcaraz (if he signs) in that 10 role. That’s potentially 3 players to cover one position.
There should be much more of a focus on the wide areas and CM. Gana for example needs to be resigned and I expect will have more leverage in his contract negotiations.
