They may have the youngest but they paid 100m for quite a lot of them on 6, 7,8 yrs

And only reason a lot of them academy played in the conf cup league stage too cos the games where piss easy

It never seemed likely with the other names in the mix, so I'm just glad it's not dragging on.

Understand why we tried, but arguably for the best if the wages request really was super high.

He'll definitely get his chance with Jackson as their current first choice too.

I feel like Beto would relish being in these positions.

There's nothing here of Delap pinning defenders and taking a ball out the sky while isolated. It's all lung bursting runs with good feet and leathering the ball like a mfer.

He does look exciting but he looks like a charging bull rather than a matador.

I don't think it's so much Chelsea don't play young players. My suspicion is more that the likes of Chelsea and utd are interested more on price than talent.

They'll get delap in.

He'll play a few minutes here and there off the bench and make a few starts in the cup matches and then get loaned out next season.
he could get loaned out to us nxt season........

Maybe reuniting with the Man City connections at Chelsea - Maresca and Palmer the two I can think of – is a strong draw, besides the likely wage/contract and Champions League football they could offer. Plus they have a young squad, so I could imagine that would have its appeal for him.

We're a much more attractive proposition than we have been, especially with the stadium. We're (hopefully?) just a year or 2 short of being able to present ourselves as being regularly competitive in the top half.

Yeah I don't think we need to overthink it. He's going to Chelsea to play with better players, regularly in Europe and with a chance of winning trophies. He'll back himself to oust Jackson as their main forward.

His chances would be limited at Newcastle with Isak there, and Man U has been a graveyard for young talent. Reports said he was impressed with our pitch, so we were probably 2nd in the pecking order. That's encouraging and means it's likely we'll get some of our other targets, so no big deal.

Yeah you've got to think he's looking at Jackson and believing he can take that spot away from him.
