The pre-season doesn’t really surprise me - we’ll look a lot better with last season’s back five back in place though
Yeah, the Moyes comments weren’t the most comforting as it suggests some disharmony between him and the transfer committee. My relative calmness to this point was somewhat based on Moyes being involved but there is a slight hint of him saying this isn’t on me sort of thing…

This is where I’m at, and we’ve got no idea whether or not some of this is on him (dithering, wanting prem proven/familiar faces, who knows, man)

Still not flapping. Think we are capable of beating Leeds with what we have

I have been very fortunate not to see any of the friendlies though. Didn't even realise we had a game last night until someone said we'd lost in a different thread. Do we still have to play utd or was last night the third place playoff?

I just think we get it done. Maybe not on time but we'll be fine

Will start flapping if we end up with doucoure dcl and Harrison back on more than we previously deemed them worth.

Exactly. We’ve not played our first team yet. Split it in 2. Should see the first team against man utd or at least Roma. So many loan players will be available much closer to the deadline. A couple more players added and we’re fine for now. Injury crisis = operation Cahillaini exercise. We’re great with backs against the wall

I think my flapometer got busted a few years back now. Won't ever go lower than a 7.

KDH performance and Grealish signing I imagine has taken most flap level out of the red, still an important last few weeks of the window with RW, RB amd DM needed at least.

I can see us finishing the window well now, it's all too late for my liking but it is what it is, we have enough to get some points on the board if we're set up right.

I think we get Dibling this week.

We've brought in two players that improve us, but neither were really in positions that we are desperate for[Similar with Barry].

Going into the season without a RB or RW is extremely poor irrespective of who else has been brought in or whether it gets done by Sept 1st.

Mine went right through and came round at one again. I think looking back it was hiring Benitez moment because I can remember thinking. This is fine maybe he can love Liverpool and Everton just like Paul McCartney

Deep, deep amber at the moment - but deffo out of the red.

Mykos injury has exposed just how poor the squad is.
But, years and years and years of managed decline was always going to take more than a window or two to fully redress.

Courtesy of Penguin, but looking at the ins and outs we have better players, we just need more of them. We'll only be in a relegation dogfight if we have nasty injuries, other than that I think it'll be more of the same, albeit much better to watch.

Players In

Carlos Alcaraz - Flamengo - Undisclosed (reported £12.5m)
Thierno Barry - Villarreal - £27.5m
Mark Travers - Bournemouth - £4m
Adam Aznou - Bayern Munich - £7.8m (plus add ons £2.6m)
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - Chelsea - £24m (plus add ons £3m-£4m)
Jack Grealish - Manchester City - Loan

Players Out

Ashley Young - Released
Asmir Begovic - Released
Joao Virginia - Released
Abdoulaye Doucouré - Released
Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Released
Mason Holgate - Released
Jack Harrison - returned to club
Oriel Mangala - returned to club
Jesper Lindstrom - returned to club
Armando Broja - returned to club
Neal Maupay - Marseille - £3.4m

I have full faith that we'll sign a new starting RW and that we have viable other options in the Interim - however the lack of concrete rumours around actual bids for RBs and DMs are a real concern for me.

We had some links with DMs and it seems we definitely made contact over Douglas Luiz but they have dried up since signing KDH and its been very quiet on the right back front since we missed out on Tete.

I'm not gonna flap as I don't think we're in a relegation trouble but without a RB and DM we're not pushing top half

Sign a RW and a RB and then loan a striker (Cherms out for game time somewhere), a DM and a utility fullback then i'm deffo looking at 12th a being a minimum league placing.
A touch of luck with injuries and we should be in a European push season.

Only bring in a Right sided midfielder, then we are in a position where we have a low bar for being injury-proof and the ACN will put us staring right down the barrel of a relegation fight

Re: Flap Levels

No need to flap anymore. We need players but with a spine of Pickford, Tark, JB, Gana/KDH, Grealish/N’Diaye, Beto/Barry, that is strong enough for mid table at least.

Many of our rivals have weakened in this window. They have had to sell or haven’t bought much to write home about. We have strengthened in quality terms. Even teams which are where we aspire to be haven’t really added a great deal.

There now needs to be a focus on the right flank, and another CM. If we can get those through the door, it will move from not flapping to active enthusiasm about our prospects, which I haven’t had for years.
