Looks like he can finish with some composure. Seems like he arrives at the right time when it’s put on a plate for him but I don’t see anything like that same service coming to him from our left side. That’s my big worry with him, but I do think he’ll be decent for us.

How many teams essentially wipe off that amount of money after 6 months? I'm struggling to see what their motivation is to take a big hit, other than the ridiculous wages for someone of his ability - which we will now pick up!!
He must have a stinking attitude and be a bit of a prick - only thing I can think
Maybe they paid peanuts up front and lots of the fee is appearance based 🤷‍♂️ Spurs thought they’d be clever and say if he got sold before reaching those appearances they’d get first slice of any transfer fee

So a swap saves them forking out a bunch of money

If that's the case, the deal's worth it just to fuck spurs. :snigger:

I will say that if Ndiaye goes or Grealish doesn’t come back and Johnson is the only addition in that area from this point - we’re still at a huge downgrade.

If Grealish does not return OR Ndiaye goes, I want another forward and has to be a serious player.

Finishing, fast feet, and if the swap is on I am not sure there has ever been a greater top-speed-differential increase in a squad ever in football.

I worry this is what they think is the serious player. We’ll know if the pr is full of ‘Tottenham’s top scorer’ that they are trying to convince us this is a marquee signing, rather than the revival project it is.

Left wing - Ndaiye / George
Right wing - Johnson / Dibling / Ndaiye

If we brought Grealish back it'd prevent George and Dibling getting the minutes they need, so I'd rather we didn't and actually developed our own players properly tbh

100%. Especially when it will be around 25 million season long loan for an injured player who hasn’t played for six months.

Last year's was between £12m & £15m, so even at that I'd rather we put this towards a right back.

Massive drop off in quality with 2 massive gambles we know for a fact the manager doesn’t like.

It’s fine, happy to develop our players also. Been banging that drum on here for honestly ten years, but you can’t deny it’s a massive drop off.

Swapping a slow 1 good game in 5 for a pacy finisher looking to reignite his career we definitely got the better of this one

It is in theory, but also we had to play 6 months without Grealish, so in that situation it's an upgrade.

If I believed Grealish could stay fit for a while season I'd be more inclined to bring him back, but it feels like if we put that money towards a right back the balance of the team might help offset the Grealish absence overall.

I think a lot depends on Johnson finding his old form, and Dibling and George getting more game time and contributing.

Probably a gamble but also I think our over reliance on Grealish was and would also be again a gamble.
