Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I’m in the would keep camp too. Really like Dom and think he hasn’t reached his potential due to numerous issues but mostly because he has been crocked. He misses too many one on ones and this has effected his confidence. Improve that and he is a top 6 striker.
He has been used as little more than a moving 100 yard target in a driving range by Dyche this season.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Worst thing we could do would be giving him a new deal with a big pay rise.
Some things will be better under a new manager, some things will just stay the same.
Dom struggling infront of goal isn’t going to change under a new manager.
Just like Nathan Patterson isn’t going to become a great right back.

Wrong on both counts.TheRam wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:04 am Worst thing we could do would be giving him a new deal with a big pay rise.

Different style of play, forward passes into the box and lots of crosses = Dom finishing with his head, feet, knees and cock from 6 yards out and becoming a circa 20 goal a season striker.
Different style of play, minutes on the pitch and protection in from and behind = Patto bombing forward and perfecting early crosses into dangerous areas for our forward thinking forwards.
Also, Santa is real and I’ll definitely start going the gym this year.
All these things I am clinging onto right now.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I'm ready for him to leave. His ability with the football is really low, which would be OK if his finishing was a good standard.
Loved him in his peak, but that was only enabled by the footballers around him putting it on a plate, which we're not likely to have over the next few years. His peak also involved what looked like super human athletic ability to leap and press, which is also something that he's not likely to recapture as he creeps towards 30.
Time to move on.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Think he lost some love for us when the fans decided to boo him for getting injured again, then finally got back to fitness and spent 2 years chasing his own flick ons. Can't imagine he has any desire to stay and understand why.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I'm going to stick my neck out here and place on record that in my humble opinion Dominic Calvert Lewin will never be a 20 goal a season striker whilst he has a hole in his arse.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:42 am Wrong on both counts.

20 goal a season strikers are a rare commodity and DCL is definitely not a 20 goal a season striker. Even Ancelloti's tactic of "just stay in the box and poach" didn't result in 20 goals from him. To get 20, you need to have the ability to score different types of goal. DCL one on one, I'd back the keeper every single time. He just doesn't have that in his locker. He's approaching 30, so if he hasn't got it now, he probably never will.
Patterson, we'll never know until he's played a bit. If he can't get in the team, then we're never going to know whether he's great, shite or just OK.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Definitely think that was a turning point.
Came the year after the palace goal as well didn't it? So essentially saved us...then gets hounded for breaking his face.
I may have misremembered that, but if that was the case I'd be like yeah they can fuck off as well tbh
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
As fans, should we accept a player who looks like he’s phoning it in up front?
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
He's definitely not phoning it in, and anyway he could post it in second class and still be far better than Beto so we'd not have much option either way.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I think he’s definitely not as committed as he once was.
Maybe it’s the injuries, maybe it’s other things.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Beto comes on and has more chances than him. Definitely phoning it in to an extent. Think it's more likely to be down to being demoralised with the work he's being asked to do by the manager than it is anything with the fans.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Beto does get chances, not going to talk about the rest of his game / decision making etc but he does get chances!
He is fit v tired legs etc but you know, getting shots off is a skill and Dom has never been a 4-5 shot a game man
