I can't remember if it was this thread or another but I posted a link a while back that showed the new manager bounce is a bit of a myth, especially for teams nearer the bottom of the table so it's unlikely we'd see any kind of bounce. I think people have seen Abramovich sack managers and see a bounce but forgetting the quality that they had at their disposal.
Yeah I don't believe we'd have a huge upturn with this bunch of players and the desperate situation we're in... Also who would we go for? Not many decent managers would fancy this job at this time.
It's fine changing manager if your reason isn't 'anyone but' because that's not a well thought out decision, it's a rash one built on nothing but hope and blind luck.
The calls for Baines because he's not Dyche is the kind of decision making that guarantees a club goes down.
Something does need to change, but I'm not convinced changing the manager is likely to achieve much if anything at all.
One thing I really don’t understand is the inclusion of Garner in the 11 - we have no intention of actually passing the ball or retaining possession so what’s the point in him.
Given how poor our options are I’m amazed that he’s not just gone pure physical 442:
Pickford
Coleman Tarks Branthwaite Myko
Patterson Doucouré Onana McNeil
Beto DCL
If he’s worried about Patterson defensively then stick him RM, he’s got a good touch, pace and can cross so he’ll be better than Harrison.
Just accept that we’ll be shit on the ball, go wide and lump crosses in the box at Beto and DCL with Doucouré arriving from deep

I’d agree but you would probably be better with gana in that setup instead of Doucoure worth a try though although Sean isn’t known for his flexibility in players or systems

What did they actually do in Portugal?
Other than crap banter, he played the same players, played the same way. Complete waste of time.
He's a very well paid failure. Our last 3 managers have all shared an arrogance, that they know better than the people who witness their work. There is no loss to them, unless you consider millions in severance pay a loss

Did he actually say they scored from a nothing ball ( 1st goal), and he only had the players for 1 day to work on things.
They did, we had two defenders and a keeper, they had one and still managed to score.
His comment about having 1 day was regarding some of the players who had been away on international duty.
Think it's a bit of a shame that he's never thought to put McNeil centrally. When you think about his lack of raw pace and how absent we are of creativity in the middle then you'd think it would be worth a go when we're struggling. Even if it means putting someone like Young or Dobbin out wide.
He's not trying anything lads. We've just had 3 weeks to work on other stuff, and we've come back doing exactly the same stuff as before, but somehow even worse.
I think Patto as a rw is a decent shout. He can cross and likes to attack. It doesn’t leave him as exposed as a RB and he can provide better link up as at least he knows the position.
