They might stay up but I agree it's hard to see anything other than a big regression. The other problem with spending their money well is they are looking to do it when clubs know they are relatively flush so driving a good deal will be even harder than normal too. Definitely tricky times ahead for them.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 2:15 pm I'll be surprised if Henderson isn't utterly finished. Brentford will go down imo. I know they've got the reputation for doing everything perfect but selling your best players, bringing in Henderson, bringing in a keeper that barely plays as first choice and appointing the set-piece coach as manager is a recipe for disaster.

In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.
Re: General Transfer Thread
If any team can deal with it it’s Brentford.
The football food chain always wins in the end and it’s probably their time to go down though.
Brighton will follow in a couple of seasons.
I know most clubs operate on a sell to buy basis but you still have to try and keep your best players around.
We’ve done it well with pickford and branthwaite. Palace are really good at it as well.
Brentford and Brighton just seem to sell at the first sniff of interest and eventually it’s going to catch up to them.

Wants to "explore his options" according to Sky. DCL might get his move there after all.
Re: General Transfer Thread
Played a season each in Italy and England since he was last Germany. Shame he hasn't scored a goal since leaving Germany.
Re: General Transfer Thread
Trafford gone back to City. Don't rate him myself. Still, blow for Burnley.

Re: General Transfer Thread
He was linked with Arsenal earlier in the Guardian rumours daily. 80m apparently (just talk). Did we stuff a sell-on clause at all with this one?

His numbers were poor last season. God knows how he's suddenly worth 80m

Re: General Transfer Thread
I think Gordon is a player Newcastle probably wouldn't mind about selling. He started off pretty rocky, with a few strops too when Howe subbed him. His second season was actually very good but really the last one was pretty poor and they looked better without him on a few occasions including that league cup final win. That's not a consistent player who should be worth anything close to 80 mil.
I suppose if Diaz goes it would make sense. Boy though, not sure we need more reasons to dislike Liverpool.

That would be funny seeing PIF using Newcastle as a feeder club for their Saudi teamsFree Agent wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 12:32 am Isak offered 600k per week tax-free by Al Hilal![]()

Against a Seria D club, who've only just been promoted to that level. It's a nothing story.Free Agent wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 6:29 am “ Ferguson scores 24-minute hat-trick on Roma debut “
