January transfer window
Re: January transfer window
Didn't rangers want £20M for him anyway.
Would have been mad to have dropped that on him like.

Re: January transfer window
Perhaps reassess and try for him in the summer when we have a more clear route to what type of players we want for the rebuild.
He would have made a risky signing timing wise for January.

And then losing two starting eleven players for the season[/quote]
Also I think winning two in a row threw a spanner in the works.
If you can avoid it you don’t want to recruit in January, two wins probably made them consider trying to eke it out to the summer with what we have

Re: January transfer window
While you do occasionally make some good points I trust David moyes assessment more than I trust yours, and I have no desire to ever speak to a Rangers fan
13 goals over 63 games in Scotland is decent but it's not setting the world alight, he did OK at Rangers, I didn't say he was shit but he wasn't exactly the best player in the league at the time

To be fair he probably was.HANNU wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 1:20 pm While you do occasionally make some good points I trust David moyes assessment more than I trust yours, and I have no desire to ever speak to a Rangers fan

Re: January transfer window
Yeah, I thought they'd be quite close together but there was actually about 4 years between them.
Re: January transfer window
I think a lot will depend on results this weekend potentially... If we lose to Leicester and Ipswich beat Southampton we'd be only 3 and 4 points ahead of those teams.
Say we win and Ipswich draw we'll be 9 and 6 points clear of them.
I think we can probably hold off until the summer if the latter happens, but if the former does and Beto throws in a horrendous performance we might have to buy someone who isn't maybe ideal for the long term.
In an ideal world Beto bags, we win and he gets another 3-5 by the end of the season before leaving for pastures new, but I think that's a tall ask. A win on Saturday though and I think we can take that gamble.

Re: January transfer window
Big Bobo Balde was the best player in the Scottish league at that point.
Re: January transfer window
At the time Arteta was there Ronald De Boer or Larsson were probably the best players in the league.
