We’ve gained Branthwaite

Presumably that's only if we're the ones buying Norton Cuffy?

Yeah I'm not feeling Harry Wilson at all. That feels like a very short-termist, nothing move.

We'll be struggling to sell him to a newly promoted team in 12 months time.

He's a solid player with at least 3 years left at PL level as he's not reliant on pace.

On a free in the summer it would be great squad depth and offer a challenge for first team places, whilst letting us sell McNeil.

No point trying to tempt Fulham with an overpaid offer now though, he's not going to make enough of a difference to justify it.

If we were going to buy a Welsh midfielder I’d rather Ethan Ampadu

Not sure if @brap2 comment was suggesting Wilson was an average winger... or we have currently average wingers, who would benefit from Harry Wilson.

Brap gonna Brap I guess. I assume the former but the latter is true enough.

Anyway, either way Wilson is class, 8 goals 4 assists this season, 30 goals in a 150 games for a limited Fulham side and 67 gams and 17 goals for Wales.

So a proven 1 in 5 goalscoring winger/attacking midfielder for club, 1 in 4 for country, with great assist stats too. 6 months on his contract, so the possibility of a knock down price, to temper the currently 28 year age.

Not to sniffed at by any means. Iwobi is a similar age, Braps a fan isnt he. How does he measure up? :D

Yeah I just don't see it. He's had a little purple patch this season, but he's a slightly more aesthetically pleasing McNeil for me.

28. Not going to markedly improve the first team, no resale value. I'd be hugely disappointed if we had Harry Wilson in our starting 11 next season, and I wouldn't be excited to see him coming off the bench either.

From this point on we need all of our signings to be either significant improvements on what we have, or have the potential to be top players in the coming years if we're going to make the leap to the next level.

Wilson bears all the hallmarks of someone playing in the shop window for one last big contract.

I'd just view it as a one in one out for McNeil where we get money for McNeil and get Wilson for free.

I think he's better than McNeil but he's certainly no worse

Grealish PL 210 G 29 A35 = 0.3 G/A per game Villa, City, Everton age 30
Wilson PL 143 G 27 A14 = 0.29 G/A per game B'mouth, Fulham age 28

The injury aside, people were open to signing a soon to be 31 Grealish at the end of the season, at a decent price on god knows what wages (I was one of them, not sure now). Wilson's attacking stats are comparable in a lot worse teams. He got 7 goals and and 2 assists in a relegated Bourmouth team on loam, hisnone season there.

He’s an average winger but I see him as a massive upgrade of McNeil and think he’ll take over that role in the squad.

Wouldn’t want him starting every game but don’t think that would be the plan for him anyway.

I always find this sort of comment a bit weird tbh.

Just the idea that Harry Wilson is capable of a season like he's having right now, but up until now he couldn't be arsed to do it and was happy just to be mediocre. But now he's got a potential lucrative contract coming he's decided to try harder to get that money, before no doubt reverting to mediocrity because he can't be bother being a good midfielder once he's got the loot.

Not specific to this transfer, just in general when people say this.

I don't think he's a bad player. He's quite clearly a level above McNeil, Alcaraz and Dibling and he knows where the goal is and has proved it over numerous seasons.

All comes down to the financials but for a squad as anaemic in front of goal as we are to have another player who even looks like troubling the scorers I wouldn't be averse to it.
