Liam Delap

Post

Probably time for his own thread now.

Think we’ll pull it off?

Is he worth the money and effort?

If it's 30mill for a striker his age he's definitely worth it. At that price everyone should be in for him.

It's a signing, should we pull it off, that obviously comes with a level of risk, but we need to take risks every now and then.

Got the potential to explode and should be hitting some good years round about this age.

Harry Kane was round about the same age when he really took off and never looked back, similarly after a few average looking years for various clubs on loan in the championship.

Even if he doesn't exactly kick on massively if he produces solid numbers you'd imagine we'd at least make that money back.

Happy to take a punt on him, got a great all round game and he has the potential there to be great.

If we get him we should get our money back if he flops, but I don't know that I've seen enough really even at that price. He's young though...

The other thing would be that it would still be a bit of a statement signing for other good young players to be encouraged to sign.

Don't think we'll sign him and don't think we should sign him. The clamour around him absolutely baffles me.

Re: Liam Delap

I have a feeling we get him.

That said - lower npxg than beto playing in a system tailored to him to just run on fast breaks and twat it.

But he's strong, fast, clearly has a finish on him. Because he has played a certain way in that system doesn't necessarily mean he can't do other things, but there is always an added element of 'what happens if we take him out of this environment?'

Would be a very exciting signing I think it's fair to say? Would be a cracking way to start the summer (doubts aside), Delap and Charly in, get the summer cooking.

Would be a great signing IMO. I'm a fan.

I don't think we'll get him though, I think he will be tempted, but will be drawn by the bright lights of European football and end up somewhere else.

I'd like us to get him and think we've got a chance. Signing him would be a good statement of intent and a sign that maybe our future is starting to look a bit brighter if we're able to attract him over other clubs.

I'm not convinced that he's anything special, but he's shown enough that he could be to be worth taking a chance with IMO. If we did get him then I'd be excited to see him hopefully push on with us. As others have said it feels a fairly low-risk signing at £30m, you'd expect to recoup a lot of that even if he was a massive flop.

They may be able to beat Man United......but CAN they beat the mighty Everton!

He'll stagnate if he goes there in my opinion.

I'm not a fan mate, but if he can maintain 12 goals a season they're decent numbers at not a crazy outlay.

However if he kicks on you turn £30m in to double, maybe triple... It's a bit of a no lose situation really.

Unless we sign him on a 5yr contract at £100k and 5% increase per annum and he flops with 3 goals .

That said I don't really have my feet in either camp. He's currently everyone is clamouring for. Can see the media pundits pushing him to a top 6 CL club , plus Utd and saying what a great signing he is .

Comes to us and they dis him off .

Guess we'll know soon

Is going to Man U would be my guess.

Also I have the impression he’s a bit of a dick, bout I’m not sure why or how I’ve arrived at that so could always just be me who’s the dick. Again.

It could go well, or it could go FANTASTICALLY well..

This is not how a no lose situation works

Haha isn't it? I'm pretty sure that's the definition of a no lose situation 🤷😂
