Football Shirts

Post

I've just got changed and stuck on an Everton shirt to wear whilst coaching my U10s team after school tonight. It's the first nice weather training session we've had in months and I've decided to wear footy shirts more often this summer, but I'm also aware that being an adult wearing a footy shirt can be a controversial choice.

So I thought I'd ask what people on here thought......

Do you wear footy shirts?
If so what do you wear them for, 5 a side, gym, general casual wear?
Do you only wear Everton shirts or do you wear other teams / countries too?
What have you got?

I went through a spell from about my early 20s until a few years ago where I'd have never worn a footy shirt to anything other than playing football. But now I'm a bit older I care a lot less about whether I'm fashionable or what other people think about what I'm wearing so I've got a fair few shirts in the wardrobe. I need to be a bit braver about wearing them in general this summer I think, starting with wearing it to coach tonight - fully expecting to take some stick off the lads, my lad is the only blue in the squad of 20 kids which is actually really unusual here.

Never been a footy shirt wearer outside of playing the game or watching it.

I think when there's so many clothing options available wearing a footy shirt is pretty chavvy.

But also doesn't offend me if others do so, and my 11 year old I don't think ever wears anything but a footy shirt apart from when at school.

I think if wearing another team's shirt it's acceptable if that team doesn't play in the premier league, but would be weird as fuck to walk around in an Arsenal or Leeds shirt of whatever.

I've got a lot of Everton shirts, I only tend to buy one every two or three yeaes but half of them probably don't fit me now. 😊 I wear some of the later ones from time to time more in the summer but not very often, I've a couple of retro shirts that I wear as well although the quality on them is shite. Even going to the game, unless it's a warm day I'll probably wear an Everton hoodie rather than a shirt.

Probably a bit controversial, I know some people like to get them but I'm not a fan of grown men walking around with players names and numbers on the back. Just feels like it's more for kids than adults but then it's a long time since I really hero worshipped any players.

Totally agree on the no name and number on the back for adults, I find that weird.

Only exception I'd make is i think it's OK to do if it's say a retro like Maradona 10 or something, I don't mind that. But yeah the idea of choosing my favourite current Everton player and getting their name on a shirt is more than a step too far for me.

On the other teams front I'd never wear another PL or EFL shirt, but foreign ones are fine with me

Footy and rugby shirts.
Wear them whenever really. I’ve got into buying the retro range rather than the new stuff these days

I used to wear retro footy shirts either to the gym, playing footy and sometimes casual occasions. South American teams, national teams etc.. but that was in my 20s.

Im 40 next year so haven't for a while, haven't got any anymore apart from the '85 everton one. To be honest if I had a few cool looking ones id wear them, dont really care what people think now, but theyre probably expensive.

I've got and wear quite a few, both international and club ones. Strangely I've not worn an Everton shirt for years. I've got the 82 Italian shirt, the 88 Dutch one, the 2000 France shirt and a 70's Brazil shirt. I've a liking for retro Italian shirts and have had over the years, Milan, Juve, Roma and Sampdoria shirts. My 5 a side days are long gone. I also bought a recent adidas Juve retro kit, think it was 2024 and a third kit, it was a cracker
