First ever match at Goodison?
What’s everyone’s first game at Goodison?
Mine was May 82, versus Wolves, we drew 1-1 with Peter Eastoe grabbing the goal.
Team that day……
Neville Southall
Brian Borrows
Billy Wright
Mark Higgins
Mick Walsh
Alan Irvine
Steve (fuck off) McMahon
Trevor Ross
Peter Eastoe
Adrian Heath
Graeme Sharp
I remember being excited to see Trevor Ross.
Got a sayers sausage roll in the Gwladys and thought it was great. Got home and me and my mate pretended to be Heath and Sharp playing in the park.
They were the days.

Everton 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday 1996/97 season.
Kanchelskis and Stuart with the goals, Unsworth with a penalty against the bar.

1-1 v Norwich 1988. Trevor Steven penalty. Slightly underwhelming for a starter but there you go.
Although we obviously didn't win the league that year, the fact we had won it twice in the previous four seasons reassured seven year old me it was only a matter of time...

In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

If we’d have known we wouldn’t be anywhere near winning it again all these years later, you’d have laughed in disbelief.CannockPricey wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 4:15 pm 1-1 v Norwich 1988. Trevor Steven penalty. Slightly underwhelming for a starter but there you go.

Re: First ever match at Goodison?
1994 - a 0-0 draw with Coventry. My old man arranged for me to have a tour of Goodison Park in the morning. Only thing I remember about the game was this big, black cloud descending over GP

December 1998 was the first time any of us had a car decent enough to make the journey to Goodison, although we did go to Blackburn away the previous season, lost 3-2, that was my first Everton game.
First at Goodison though was Chelsea at home, 0-0. Wise sent of for them, Dunne sent off for us at in the Lower Gwladys, they we're decent seats from what I remember down where the disabled section is now in the church corner.

Re: First ever match at Goodison?
After doing the stadium tour summer of 2010 I was finally able to afford to make it to my first match at Goodison, Everton v West Ham September 2022.
Yes, I was sat in the Gwladys Street end to see Maupay’s only goal for Everton. My second match was later that season to see Everton v Tottenham where Keane’s screamer made it 1-1. And most recently for Everton v Chelsea where Dobbin and Doucoure scored.
So any match I have gone to there have been players that scored that normally don’t
(barring Doucs).
Bringing my fiance over for her first match against Bournemouth. I’m expecting Pickford to score in that one.

Re: First ever match at Goodison?
Was in Jnr school so loads of my school mates didn’t get to games so was absolutely buzzing. Became obsessed with Hinchcliffe (fellow lefty), the presence of Ferguson and Rideout seemed like such a clever footballer so I had him on such a pedestal and thought he was the best striker in the league for a moment back then.
