Victor Anichebe is a product of Everton’s youth system who is the latest player from the academy to break into the first team squad. The 18 year old Nigerian born striker has continually progressed over the last couple of years to become a promising player with a bright future. Under the guidance of reserve team coach Andy Holden, Anichebe has improved on several aspects of his game especially his hold up play and strength on the ball. Anichebe is a tall and fast player, who is extremely strong for his age.
One of Anichebe’s best assests is his ability to back into defenders and turn them when they get too tight. This was shown in just his second first team appearance for Everton when he got his first senior goal against West Brom, neatly turning the defender before cooly slotting the ball in the back of the net. Anichebe still needs to keep improving if he is to make it into a regular first team player in the Premiership. He needs to improve on his consistency and also using his strength more. If Holden and everyone at Everton can bring all of this out of Anichebe then Everton could have another star on their hands.
