I won't post a Telegraph link but Blatter gave a long interview to them in December in which that was basically the theme. It was thousands of words that basically amounted to "you thought I was bad..."

And that does seem the commonly accepted view of the journos around it now.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

WC and EC were the only interests I had in football outside Everton. Not so sure about WC anymore....

I can't wait for Saudi Arabia v Cape Verde, they should make it 64 teams.

That's the one bit I don't mind. Well, Saudi I do mind a bit because of how they're using football to direct attention away from the choppy-choppy habits of their rulers but in general, having small teams there for whom this is their big day out is great.

It's just everything else that is utter shite.

Can see it being big in this country though as I honestly think England have a great chance of winning it. Probably Spain are the favourites but England not far behind

Why stop at 64? They could make it 128. Make the tourney all-year round. Multi-city event (in the US only, of course). And name the tournament after Trump.

I’d say like Group I is tricky, but as most third placed teams go through it’s all a bit lacking jeopardy

Yeah, the group stages will be boring now as they have been at the last few Euros. I'll probably just aim watch the England and Scotland games before the last 32

Seems to be the new set up. Champions league, world cup, euros. As many group games as possible with as little jeopardy as possible.
Was looking at them groups thinking the it would be almost impossible for the top teams not to make top 2 in most of them.... then someone says most of the thirds qualify too

In its World Cup bid book, the US, Canada and Mexico bid said tickets to the final would cost a maximum of $1,550 (£1,174).

The first open sale of tickets for the 2026 World Cup showed Fifa is charging up to $10,990 (£8,333) to be at the final

LOL Fifa takes a 30% fee - 15% each off both buyer and seller - from each ticket which is sold.

Just when you thought FIFA couldn't get any worse, they basically become Ticketmaster too. They'll probably make more money off the resale market than the World Cup itself.
