Thought he went missing in the second half tbh. We've got about 13 decent CMs and not one of them is any more than 5/10 on the ball.

Did he do a single thing on the ball?

It’s not enough to run around and be busy and hide from the ball.

I think he’s been poor for months.

Tackles, interceptions, breaking forward and putting across a dangerous ball... Was probably out best player out there and a level above Wharton imo.

Decent player. Clearly one of Moyes' undroppable favorites.

He is however a victim of the fact his manager has no imagination at all and cannot rotate the crop of decent midfield players at his disposal to get the best out of them all in different games at various stages of the season.

Do you not remember the moment he pounced on a Palace player, drove forward and put an excellent outside of the boot ball across the face of the goal?

Thought he was very good again tbh.

I have no issue with him at all these days and I think he’s got himself above Wharton in the England pecking order now after yesterday.

Garner isn't the issue. He's solid and getting better.

The problem is there isn't a baller in the middle with him.

Depends what you need? Dogsbody water carrier? Absolutely.

Wharton is a traffic cone off the ball like, I don’t think he goes.

He had a good game. Only seen it once but I thought the ref maybe bottled sending him off towards the end of the game. Looked a clear foul he didnt give maybe because it would have had to be a second yellow too

How good he is on the ball, complete and utter myth. One of the most over hyped players we’ve ever had.

Oh, I don't see him getting all that much credit for that side of his game honestly.

He's very average in that regard, way too safe and it limits us against poor sides as if it's him and another hard worker in there, then we've got very little creativity in the middle.

Wasn't one of Garners better games but he 'won' on almost every metric, except clearances and ball recoveries.

Wharton had more of the ball mainly because Palace had 60% of it, but he missed the target with both his shots, missed 5/6 tackles, 3/3 aerial duels, and was dribbled past 5 times to Garner's 1 (and Iroegbunam's 0).

No interceptions relative to Garner, fewer key passes/chances created.

Think Wharton just ran around with the ball a lot, and when he didn't have it he didn't do a great deal.
