Re: Scouting/recruitment
Could also be Ekitike’s (however you spell it) replacement for the shite, hope so anyway. A big no from me.

He's only 30 so you'd get a few years out of him whilst he leads the line in a way only Beto and Barry could dream of.
Good strikers are hard to find and expensive, so if can sign one who not only works how the manager wants, but is a bags man too it's a no brainer.
Would all just depend on fee and wages for me, but if we could do it then we definitely should.
I think he fits the profile but youd imagine hed be vastly overpriced given the contract hed be leaving.
Re: Scouting/recruitment
That'd be the main concern... If he's still motivated by money he'll get offers elsewhere that we won't be able to match.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 6:23 am I think he fits the profile but youd imagine hed be vastly overpriced given the contract hed be leaving.
If he just wants to play regularly in the premier league for a good club then that might bring his demands down a bit.
As always with any potential transfer I'd only be for it if the maths added up.

Re: Scouting/recruitment
if bowen was available definitely welcome at everton - with bowen on the right and jack on the left
plus davy moyes has worked with bowen at west ham and knows how he plays
but
as we all know a decent CF and 2 FBs are a priority tho

RW - Bowen
AM - Grealish
LW - Ndaiye
Garner and Tim in the middle.
2 new full backs.
JOB and Branthwaite as the CBs.
I'd be happy with that.
Obviously won't happen, but that'd be some team!
Re: Scouting/recruitment
Yeah that's my biggest issue, the guy is a twat. I remember him being on a night out and saying "Fuck Brentford" to the camera whilst playing for them. If he did something like that here then it'd make Barry's treatment look reasonable.
Re: Scouting/recruitment
Was reading a post directed to West Ham fans about Moyes, essentially saying that he was hounded out and now look at them.
The sentiment from them wasn't one of regret but more around how he created a really small, old squad and they were glad he was gone, irrespective of where they are now.
I'm expecting similar recruitment, but you need to add Soucek to that list too
Re: Scouting/recruitment
Seen a few links to midfielders and CBs over the past week... Hard to know if rumours have any substance, but seems to be a bit of a reoccurring theme that we are linked to players in these positions.

Re: Scouting/recruitment
Also turning 30 year I think, and has struggled a fair bit this season. You could argue his declining form is one of the issues at West Ham currently as previous years he’d be able to drag them over the line almost single handed.
If this was 5 years ago, it’d be a no brainer. Or if it was on a free or such. However, a very likely overpriced, aging forward is not what a club like us recovering from financial mismanagement should be considering.
Re: Scouting/recruitment
Bowen has 18 goal contributions in 36 games this season, I'd pay £60m for that tbh.
I think it all comes down to how much money we can spend and what our wage bill allows.
I doubt we'll sign Grealish permanently this summer, or if we do it'll be on a free. He's missed 6 months, and then add in a summer on the lash in Ibiza and it's impossible to know what version of him we'd get next season.
Just purely hypothetical but a summer of the following would instantly transform us:
Ivan Toney - £40m
Bowen - £60m
New LB - £25m
New RB - £25m
Fatawu - £15m
Total spend = £165m
Divided over 4 year contracts that'd cost us £41.25m this summer.
I've not added in agent fees or signing on fees, so let's just round that up to £50m.
Coleman and Gueye off the wage bill frees up some wages.
Sell Beto and Alcaraz for a combined £40m and the books are well balanced.
We then have a mix of experienced players and a good depth of young talent in:
JOB
Branthwaite
Armstrong
Tim
Rohl
Barry
Dibling.
Ordinarily I'd be totally against signings like Bowen and Toney, but we have so many young promising talents at the club that I'm happy for us to splurge on some real game changers that you just know will add something in we desperately need.

The problem is youre signing him through his decline on probably 1 of our biggest contracts. Moshiri would have made that signing.
Re: Scouting/recruitment
Yep, and as I said I'd normally be against that type of business.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2026 2:18 pm The problem is youre signing him through his decline on probably 1 of our biggest contracts. Moshiri would have made that signing.
However I don't think we can attract nor afford a Bowen at 25 standard player.
So we either take a bit of a risk and sign someone younger without the experience and guarantee, or we sign someone at the end of their peak who can still massively improve us
