Heartbreaking he didn't actually win anything with us - he would absolutely have gone down as a proper "build a statue of him" legend if he had have.

Now he just might hold the mantle of "best Everton player to never win anything".

Seamy leadership over the last 3 years kept us up. We all know that. Not are greatest player to never win anything, but one of the greatest Evertonians there will ever be. Build it.

As others above have said, a special moment for Irish Toffees. I get the issue some have from a football perspective but, for me, the only questionable season is this season. Prior to this season, his influence on the pitch has waned but his influence in the dressing room and on the training ground has been significant in keeping us up. Worth every penny of every contract we’ve given him.

Away from the pitch and the dressing room, his love of the club and his generosity of spirit to all-comers has helped maintain the bond between club, fans and community while others seemed hell-bent on breaking it. You cannot put a number on the value he’s given. Love him.

Sad day, but the right decision, definitely a club legend regardless if he’s not won anything with us.
Hopefully he stays on as a coach.
And hopefully he leads us out on Sunday, it’s the he deserves. 💙

The last player from when when me and my daughter started going the game together. Top fella and at one point a superb player. Arguably the best value per pound for a footballer player in premier league history.

You can have all the money in the world on the balance sheet, and the best players in the world by value. But what Seamus has provided over his 17 years here is intangible. His commitment to the club is unrivalled and how he has galvanised the club over the last few years especially will never be forgotten.

There are many ways of building a legacy at a football club, and Seamus had his special way of doing it. For the fans, it was like having one of us in the dressing room, rallying the players and letting them know what it means to play for Everton.

He will be missed more than most and I look forward to seeing him back at the club in a new role in the future.

What a fucking player though.

Best we’ve ever had in that position.

What a player, what an evertonian and what a man.
I'd give anything to have him in his pomp playing for us now.
The first season under Martinez, he was incredible and rightly made the premier league team of the season.
He's without doubt in my top 5 favourite everton players of all time.
Really hope we're in a position tomorrow to bring him on for the fans to show him what we think of him
Whatever he decides to do i wish nothing but the best.

How many headers?

I’m no mathematician but half of those were headers, half were screamers, half were mis-hit and another half were sheer bloody determination!

I’ll tell you what though, they were all because of his position on the pitch - attacking, aggressive, forward thinking and always looking to make a positive contribution.

That’s a post of four halves!
