Keep banging the same drum but what he has at his disposal is in part down to him. He said the other week that we've been looking for a right back for over a year. I cant believe anyone admitted to that ineptitude even if it was obvious

Re: David Moyes
Will the disconnect between him and the transfer committee make us more stable in 12 months time??NickNack wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 9:59 am I don’t think we’re anything like stable just yet. I think Moyes should get next season then see where we are. This summer is the first proper summer window with everyone established in their positions so let’s see how they do.
There needs to be a massive improvement all round, no doubt about that but it’s not like Moyes isn’t capable of achieving better.

I laughed at this!! How true. When people say, maybe ten years from now we will be challenging etcBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 5:29 am
I am undecided on that. I have mixed feelings. Maybe it is fair to do that, because the 6 games were SO disastrous and because we're all inching closer to death.
FUCKING HELL> ill be almost dead.

Re: David Moyes
Is he really capable of achieving better? He's been a manager for 24 years (top flight) and won one trophy, which is also the trophy that every English team that enters the competition is pretty much favourite to win.NickNack wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 9:59 am I don’t think we’re anything like stable just yet. His average league finishing position over those 24 years is 10th, if that doesn't say mediocre then I'm not sure what does.
If survival is the name of the game for TFG then he is your man, but if they have any ambition he can't continue

Re: David Moyes
I think that's a two fold problem...777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:13 am Will the disconnect between him and the transfer committee make us more stable in 12 months time??
1) We sign more players Moyes refuses to use.
Or
2) We give him Carte Blanche and he signs a load of older players we end up stuck with down the line.
Neither is a good path forward.
Personally I would actually add maybe one or two older players, especially striker where I think we already have the younger inexperienced raw guy, so need a reliable established first choice... But then it's either Grealish OR someone like Bowen, not both.
I do think Moyes will be here next season, and I also think if we beat Spurs and finished say 10th he probably gets a bit of slack from people as the end position probably justifies him staying... But I think all of us have more questions than answers right now about where we are heading as a club, and if indeed it's the right path.

My issue is im not sure i think either option is right. Moyes hasn't done enough to prove hes a good bet with his older players and short termism and frankly the transfer committee completely botched buying young players with a combination of not good enough and not matching our needs
I dont fancy either option at all
Re: David Moyes
I've got a foot in both the Moyes in and Moyes out camps, but right now if you gave me Ireola, two new full backs, a pacy winger and regular games for Rohl, Tim, Dibling and Jake at CB, it'd absolutely bite your hand off.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:45 am My issue is im not sure i think either option is right. Is there evidence there is a disconnect or are we jumping to conclusions?777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:13 am Will the disconnect between him and the transfer committee make us more stable in 12 months time??
Will a new manager now make us more stable in 12 months time?
Re: David Moyes
Better as in better than we’ve done this season. After years of circling the drain, I’m happy with a couple of years of stability, with improvement next season over this and then continue improving.Raptor wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:28 am Is he really capable of achieving better? Moyes has done my head in at times this season but I still think he should be given next season before we consider moving on.

Re: David Moyes
I just don't buy this, we have such gaping holes in our team that we don't need to recruit world beaters to see a visible and immediate improvement.Indiantoffee75 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 8:15 am Personally, I think it'll be a difficult window to attract players in that can ellevate us to another level. No Europe and manager who plays conservative football.
1) Buy an actual RB - Not a CB who can also play RB, or a failed RW who has stepped back to RB. Bournemouth got Jiminez (I know, nonce, but that wasn't known at the time) and Brentford got Kaoyode both of them for less than £15m - there are players out there
2) Buy an atheltic LB who can support the attack - Myko is fine for squad depth but we need somebody can support our LW. Brighton go De Cuyper for less than £15m, West Ham got Diouf for similar.
3) Buy somebody who wants to play RW and has pace - Admittedly this one is harder to do as forwards cost big money but if we'd bought somebody like Rayan like Bournemouth did for the same money we paid for Dibling our team would be looking a lot better
4) Buy an experienced ST who can hold up the ball for when we need it - somebody like Mitrovic would be perfect and wouldn't cost a huge amount.
Obviously I'd love us to be attracting the next big thing in £50m+ deals and smashing it but it's really not needed to make our squad more complete
Re: David Moyes
You know, i think this is the crux of it for many - conscious or not.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 5:29 am
So then the real question is - is it fair to write off 15 months of excellent work for 6 terrible games (when it really mattered!) where the whole thing has horribly imploded and all the best qualities of the manager have receded into the background, and a number of his worst instincts and tendencies have come back to the fore?
Quite a large portion of the Everton crowd just remembers him and his team bottling great positions over and over and over and over again. It got that bad that we all forgot that he was instrumental in getting us into those positions in the first place.
That cup win at West Ham might have given us all a glimmer of hope that maybe he'd found a way past his "just don't get beat" pep talk mentality. But alas, it's the hope that kills you.
FWIW, if we had have brought in an Iraola or the like, i dont think anybody would be complaining too much about the end of this season. We'd have been disappointed, but all the reasons people are defending Moyes would have been sufficient for the new guy.
It's just we've seen this exact thing from Moyes too often.

Re: David Moyes
I think the biggest questions against moyes isnt our results. Its the disconnect between him and the committee and the succession plan. Ultimately if we want and can get someone good now then he should go because that might not be available in 12 months
I think he will stay because hes done "okay" but that decision wont be made with any joined up thinking about transfers or who manages us in 12 months time
