Re: Hayden Hackney
I'm a bit sceptical that we see any early signings, my guess would be early late July/August-ish but it'd be a pleasant surprise if we could get an early one over the line and bedded in a bit.

Re: Hayden Hackney
I read something about how Moyes was really unhappy with doing business so late last summer (think he said as much on the USA tour), and that we want a lot of our business done early this time round.
Hopefully that transpires and we aren't left scrambling around at the end of the window again.

Saw this yesterday as well - and really hoping we do learn our lesson - though I don’t think it will be that straightforward this summer because of the World CupAjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 6:57 am I read something about how Moyes was really unhappy with doing business so late last summer (think he said as much on the USA tour), and that we want a lot of our business done early this time round.

Mad thing last year for me was how we thought we were gonna get Kenny Tete - like clearly we thought we badly need a right back but when that fell through we just abandoned looking for one
KDH and Grealish both signed just a week before the new season which wasn’t ideal
This full back situation is giving me anxiety

There has been speculation this week that Everton had begun formal discussions over signing Hackney, but senior Boro sources insist that is not the case. While there has been contact from Everton officials at a lower level, there have not been any discussions with any members of Boro’s senior executive team and no formal offer has been received. The same is true of all other clubs who have been linked with Hackney.
There have also been suggestions that Everton are hoping to conduct a deal for around £10m, but Boro’s leadership group regard that figure as ‘laughable’.

Stuff like this always gets turfed out to soften the blow of losing the player.Trowel wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 8:45 am https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport ... n-hackney/

Re: Hayden Hackney
I’m gunna be honest I do want him. Not saying he’ll be a massive success but I want him.
My expectation will be that Moyes might not like him, and I think Dibling in the ten is probably the better player (how good would Dibling highlight reel be if he had 2 years in the 10 at a top champo club?)
But he dribbles, he plays balls into the final third, he creates chances from open play.
I’d like to watch him play for Everton. But we will need a top deep midfielder please.
