Tim Iroegbunam
Re: Tim Iroegbunam
25 mil would be a reasonable fee.
Potentially Hackney, Garner, Rohl, Armstrong, KDH and another central player (a ball-playing 6 hopefully) would be a good stack. Assuming Gana is done too.
Timmy has some exceptional talents, but not rounded enough to be a consistent performer in the PL. Too many mistakes.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
If we hadn't committed to buying Rohl I would have kept him but we are where we are, with a number of players all competing for the same spots.
It's actually poor planning really, to have such a glut of central midfielders at a time we are severely lacking elsewhere.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Yeah, sell. Far too careless with the ball (his pass accuracy is 15% lower than Gana’s and it’s not like he’s more progssive with the ball). You can’t afford to have a midfield turnover-merchant in this era of the PL.
His part in Spurs’ goal was a bit of a watershed moment for me, tbh.
Good luck to him though. If we get £20m+ for him, then his transfer would have be a genuine success for all parties.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Reminds me of hamza choudhury who at 21ish was considered a potential future Kante successor because of his ball winning, but just never developed anything else and then ended up shite anyway.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
His ability to lose the ball is on a par with his ability to win it, which for a central midfielder makes him bang average in my book. If he can improve the poorer sides to his game he'd be a beast.

Classic Everton fan response - he’s somehow both not good enough for the PL but also worth twenty five million! The Doc wrote:[emoji6

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
He and Alcaraz are in the same bucket. They have demonstrable, high-level skills for the PL but other aspects of their game are way off. I can see why someone would buy in but developing them is an infuriating process with highs and equal and opposite lows. There’s a lot of logic to selling high and letting them become other clubs’ projects.
Could end up looking foolish but that’s the risk of player trading. Don’t mind the club being decisive about younger players like this.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
That being said, I never thought he’d be at even this level when we effectively swapped Dobbin for him.
Felt like a pure bookkeeping move.
I could actually see him becoming a player with an arm around his shoulder and regular minutes to play through his deficiencies. He could probably get that at a newly promoted club like Ipswich.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Be nice to be in a position where we loan our young players to PL teams to develop rather than Championship. A years loan for him to Ipswich, Dibling to Coventry or Alacarz to Hull, with plenty of game time (except against us).kramer wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 1:05 pm He and Alcaraz are in the same bucket. Then if a success, they either buy a player they love with a PL sized budget or they come back the finished article.
When was the last time we ever loaned to another PL club? Feels a better model going forward.

Dya think villa are sitting there thinking ooo look how he’s come on maybe we should have kept him and played him for another 3 seasons and maybe he’d eventually be a serviceable prem player…nah
Be decisive, move on.

Would be good to loan to these type of clubs, providing we have around three years on their contracts.Matt1878 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 1:29 pm Be nice to be in a position where we loan our young players to PL teams to develop rather than Championship. I think I’d be happy for PSR to go out on loan, how long has he left on his contract?
As for Dibling, I hope he can force his way in this season.
Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Look at where Garner is though, might be a moot point with you but whatever you think of him he is on the fringes of the england team. These things take time and Tim's just starting to realise some potential.
Re: Tim Iroegbunam
I agree, I’d move on.
I do think he’s a fair investment for someone with £20m to spend on a player who could be worth double if he sorts out some of his issues.
Cash in and let it be someone else’s work.
We can be better about finding loans for these types of players when we have a squad with reasonable depth.
Right now, we need every bit of cash to fund a superior first team.
