World Cup 2026
Re: World Cup 2026
Think that was as much Paraguay are crap as the US playing well.
Downside of expanding the tournament is more teams that aren’t at the level.
This US side is not good enough to be pulling away from anyone at a World Cup under the older format.

Re: World Cup 2026
Wouldn't be so bad if the matches today were the other way round, but I'm not staying till 1am to watch Brazil Vs Morocco.
I'll probably try and avoid the score in the morning and just watch the full match on catch up, but it's not the same as watching it live.

1am on a Saturday night isn’t that late come on.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 3:37 pm Wouldn't be so bad if the matches today were the other way round, but I'm not staying till 1am to watch Brazil Vs Morocco.

Re: World Cup 2026
Yeah wish people would give up with the kick off times stuff.
It's in America/Canada and Mexico, it's not going to be on at perfect times for those in Europe ....get over it.
But yeah to say there are so many games, why isn't there a game on now?
I know it's only a few days in but I always felt like there are games on constantly throughout? And with more teams it feels weird to feel there are less matches haha

Re: World Cup 2026
'Scotland's first world cup game since 1998' is getting about as annoying as 'Frank Lampard's >insert team name<' We know, you don't need mention it every fucking time you talk about the game!
Re: World Cup 2026
Isn't moaning about no afternoon games just the same as people moaning about middle of the night games?
On the east coast it's 1.30pm, on the west it's about 9.30am, they're not going to kick off at 9am to keep the residents of NSNO happy.

Re: World Cup 2026
Not sure who is moaning about no afternoon games?
I wondered why there wasn't because next week there are more games in afternoons as well as late.
Re: World Cup 2026
Yea they looked bad. But they are ranked fairly high - both in the official rankings and elo which tends to be more accurate.
Finished level on points with Brazil, Uruguay, and Colombia in qualifying.
Obviously not as good as those teams but I think matched up poorly with a pacy US squad.

Really? That’s insane to me.Cantoffee wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 5:38 pm Yea they looked bad. But they are ranked fairly high - both in the official rankings and elo which tends to be more accurate.

They could not track runners at all even though the US attack was very straightforward.

I'm just having a bit of fun, hence the overuse of emojis.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 5:29 pm Not sure who is moaning about no afternoon games?

I haven't seen too many moaning about kick off times but it goes both ways, people are frustrated about games through the night, people are frustrated about no afternoon games, not everyone can stay up through the night to watch games but it's just how it's going to be when there's a sizeable time difference.

How can USA be 15th and Paraguay be 46 in FIFA rankings and both be 26th in ELO ranking

I'm also not just meaning the few regular posters on nsno when I say things, I'm talking about my experience of conversation within all the things I see.
Anyway I'm unsure why it's a discussion, it's a world cup in different time.zones, this is the actual point of it being a world cup.
